FREE busted amps: Magni 3 Plus and OG Liquid Carbon

Just remembered I've been meaning to list these. Been rather forgetful lately. Cost is shipping.

I've got a Schiit Magni 3+ with a gain switch stuck right down the middle that I've been meaning to replace for months now, just never got around to it. It works just fine, but it's alarmingly easy to nudge the switch from high gain to low and back, and channel balance is a bit screwy-- you'll have to re-center by ear.

Also have a very first-run 2015 Cavalli Liquid Carbon where the one channel (think it was the right, have to double check) doesn't work. I've only ever used it with single-ended inputs and single-ended cans so for all I know maybe using balanced inputs will sort things out. This one could be fully dead, but maybe you could use a well-voiced mono amp?

Neither is cosmetically perfect, but if you're handy with a soldering iron you could get some pretty decent toys to tinker with. Will try to add photos over the week. No original packaging for either, but I'll add an ecohazard's worth of packing peanuts and bubblewrap as needed.

Shipping will be DHL tracked and insured from Mandaluyong City in Metro Manila, the Philippines. I know DHL's got a bad rep elsewhere but it's the most reliable on my end. Might not be cheap but hopefully it'll be low enough to make this worth a lark.

I also have a first run LCX that doesn't work on the right channel when using a single ended input. It does however work perfectly with a balanced input. Strong chance a phase splitter is dead. It probably does still work! Good luck finding it a home. I'd be all over it if I didn't already have one.

 

Y'all are lucky I don't have a balanced DAC... yet (or will ever have one???)

For reference, seems shipping this to the States will be in the ballpark of USD50. I expect the Magni to cost about that much since they'd be nearly identical in terms of weight and packed dimensions.

 

I'm withdrawing the Magni. Gonna be repairing it sometime in the near-ish future just so I have a more "neutral" amp as a touchstone.
