For sale is the gorgeous Eddie Current Super 7, an unobtainium tube amplifier that I wish I could keep guilt free.

This is the newer version with the updated transformers. I have modified it for additional clarity, soundstage, and slam.

    Pictures
A full suite of images--including all of the tubes--can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/f8AXz

    Changes from Stock:
    • 0.1μF Jantzen Superior Z-Cap capacitors x2
    • 10μF Mundorf MCap EVO Aluminum Oil capacitors x2
    • Vampire CM1FCB RCA connectors
    • A big knurled metal volume knob
    • 7x 7N7 tubes w/ adapters
    IMG_20171007_152220.jpg

    Notes:
    • I will be including 7x 7N7 tubes along with the necessary adapters.
    • I left enough wiring length to the 10μF caps to connect them to something farther away (e.g. big motor run caps like Hands uses).
    • Lifted trace: I applied too much heat with a thick wire and a trace started to lift. It didn't lose contact with the pad so instead of waiting for proper adhesive to stick it back down, I used a couple of strips of electrical tape and proceeded with the hot glue I'd already planned to put at the wire connection as an overkill measure. I don't anticipate it ever becoming an issue.
    Pricing:
    • $1500 OBO, which includes the modded Eddie Current Super 7 and 7x 7N7 tubes w/ adapters (each pair is a slightly different 7N7 variant as seen above)
    • $100 6SN7 Addon: 10x 6SN7 tubes. 3 are new production
    • $100 7N7 Addon: 13x 7N7 tubes (in addition to the 7 included), 7 of which are tall bottle
    • $150 Whole Kit and Caboodle Addon: All of the 6SN7 and 7N7 tubes (30 total tubes including the base complement)
    Preference will be given to:
    • People I've met IRL
    • Friends
    • Contributors
    • Locals in Southern California (I'm in Irvine/Laguna Hills)
Keep this lovely amplifier in the SBAF family! It will not be listed on Head-Fi unless no one here is interested. Thanks!

Thanks, @Thenewerguy009. I'd like to leave this up until sometime tomorrow to allow everyone interested an opportunity to get in touch.

While I almost always go with first come, first served, I would love to keep this amp local/among SBAF Friends (although I've seen you around here quite a bit. Not sure why you haven't been promoted to schmancy status yet).

I realized after posting that it's pretty late on a work night. I tend to forget that I'm a night owl.

    No problem, whenever you decide.

btw you decided on the Crimson? Not surprising, your description made it seem perfect for the HD650.

If I bought this I would be starting an Eddie Current Museum!

I did decide on the Liquid Crimson, yes. For a couple reasons, really.

One is that the Super 7 appeals to my darker habits--DIY and tube rolling. As you can see, I still have 30 tubes that work with this amp. I purchased quite a few more than that when initially tube rolling to find the combo I landed on (and sold most of them). But I have an insatiable need to find the best combo, and 7 tubes kinda breaks me. It's also very easy to DIY with it, which is another rabbit hole I'm prone to go down. The LC is very tough to mod and only has one tube.

I also do enjoy the extra clarity the LC provides with the HD650 without fatigue, which makes up for some of smearing inherent to the Sonic Frontiers SFD-1 MKII I use. At the fairly low volumes I listen to, the Liquid Crimson is a bit more dynamic than the Super 7 (with the latter taking over at higher volumes)

Both amps are in the same league, truthfully. The Liquid Crimson was a bit overpriced and the Super 7 underpriced. If this was the NFL, the Liquid Crimson would be Tom Brady and Super 7 would be Peyton Manning (both at their best).

Im just going to say it, this smells like a flip. I understand you modded and are including a few more tubes than what you got it with, but this is the ad a sbafer forwarded you:

    http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649377033-eddie-current-super-7/

$650 for tubes and caps seems excessive, but maybe im wrong here? Pass on good luck and good fortune among the community or try and sell it elsewhere.

@JoshMorr You're not wrong. This definitely doesn't look good compared to the way we usually conduct ourselves on the marketplace here. I would expect steep discounts even on modded gear with extra tubes. I think this is asking a bit much.

Please flip on HF or somewhere else if you paid $850 + shipping then did some mods and are selling for $1500.

Just like cars, assume the value of your mods are worth nothing unless it was done as professional service like an @LFF transformation and being sold to someone who is an enthusiast. Also, lines like this smack of DIY crappiness:

WTF, this is the kind of thing that falls apart in transit. And I can tell you right now, there's no way in hell Craig is touching this amp if something goes wrong and someone wants repair.

Thread closed. See above message. Not on SBAF.

For those of you who think you're getting a deal, this is f'ing ridiculous. It's like paying $1.5M for a $1M house where the owner did DIY work to add a second story himself. Also, the dude got full plans for the second story from someone, got through 1/2 of the work, then decided to sell because he bought another house. So you're only really getting another room or two rather than the whole second story.

Also these are just meh caps for the upgrade since the good ones are only available in bulk now. And the UBER 7 with way better build, better parts, and full mods has gone for $1500 in the past.

It's not a big deal as long as there is full disclosure. The best way around is is to trace it back to the last point, which is either going to be off the plate (pin on the tube socket), if interstage cap; or off a resistor, if feedback loop cap. I am assuming this was the result of changing the interstage and feedback caps.
