I found removing grills from HFM headphones made zero difference to the sound. Did you settle on the Bryston after trying lots of different speaker amps with the HE-6?

Bryston isn’t the be all end all but it’s certainly no slouch. I have a 250W amp sitting here but convenience and fear of blown drivers keeps me content with the versatile BHA-1.

I didn't realize how good my Dahlquist DQ-10 sounded until I set them up in the living room to demo to sell. Still sold them, as I had no space for them, and made money, but I still kinda wanted them after that.

And be thankful for companies like Schiit and Massdrop so you can have a very good basic system for under 400 bucks if you need a restart or hit hard times.
