Do you happen to know if the headband is original on the LCD-2? That might possibly narrow down if it is a 2.1 or 2.2. From what I remember 2.1 only had the foam headband and 2.2 introduced the headband that is currently on there a little later (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

Are you able to briefly compare the 2C to these from memory? I've been low-key looking for a 2.1

 

I believe it is as I bought this from the original owner who took very good care & they have low hours on them.

 

Here is something I found over on HF regarding which version it might be

"Rev 2 serial numbers start with 531 and say Audeze LCD-2 instead of Audeze Research Labs LCD-2. A Rev1 with leather headband would be very rare." - Soldude

Having owned one myself and judging by its looks, I'm almost certain it is an LCD-2 Rev 2. AFAIK, there were least 5 different variants of LCD-2 (the number designations below are unofficial).

1. LCD-2 Rev 1.0: plastic headband, "Audio Research Lab", "L/R" designation on grill



2. LCD-2 Rev 1.1: "L/R" designation on grill replaced with "A" logo



3. LCD-2 Rev 1.9: "Audio Research Lab" removed



3. LCD-2 Rev 2: plastic headband replaced with leather



4. LCD-2 Fazor: previously LCD-2 were all Caribbean rosewood but now they start coming in other wood finishes (e.g. bamboo as shown below), and the mini XLR plug is no longer directly attached to the wood but angled



There are probably several silent revisions of LCD-2 Fazor afterwards, but one thing for certain is that the LCD-2 for sale is an early model since it has wooden mini XLR plugs. Of course, one cannot rule out the possibility that it is a Rev 1.9 whose original headband has been replaced with a leather headband. But if it is in unadulterated stock form, then it's a Rev 2 no doubt.

 

Nice research! I will add, though that I had a bamboo LCD2.2 non-Fazor with angled connectors. I am pretty sure they went to bamboo earlier in your timeline here in the US.

If this is true than these are indeed a rev.2 as the serial number does start with 531 on these. Really need to sell these as I’m in a bit of a pinch currently.
