[FS] ZMF Verite Open (Pheasantwood) + Pads + 2K Cable

For randos I'm asking $2099 shipped with paypal included ($1999 if okay with local pickup in the bay area).

For friends/known contributors I'll reduce that to $1999 (-$100) and $1899 (-$200) for local pickup in the bay area. Looking to ship in conus only for now. (I have 100% positive trader feedback on head-fi, if anyone is curious.)

It comes with many additional pads (see head-fi post for complete details). I’ve decided to make the 2K cable an optional add-on for +$300, to lower the base cost for the headphone and pads.

Sad to hear you're selling VO but totally understandable. Verites C and O seem exclusive rather than complementary.

 

Thanks Vtory! It was a tough decision, but I knew when I purchased the verite closed out-right that I'd only do it if I sold one eventually.

The general consensus I've seen around here is that while both are comparable, the VO edges the VC out slightly. I felt the same way initially too, but after a bit of burn-in felt like the ironwood VC started to align more with my tastes* (slightly tighter imaging, what feels like a tighter bass, and just a bit more immediate sounding?); the VO does still have slightly warmer/lusher mids to me. Also just prefer the extra heft (makes it hug my head more securely) and smooth finish of the ironwood VC I have vs the matte-finish of the pheasantwood, although both are beautiful woods (the pheasantwood grain in particular has really nice texture, and the dark color is rather striking against stainless steel...).

Super subjective and you'll probably disagree with me haha (especially the comment about weight, as pheasantwood is much lighter than ironwood); my music tastes/listening preferences likely differ from others too. Both sound excellent and both feature beautiful woods. I loved the VO and prefer to sell to someone on SBAF who I know will love and enjoy them fully.

While I'm rambling, I do really think the 2K cable makes a difference if your system is resolving enough. But I understand the value statement of a $300 cable is a bit steep compared to just getting a better amp/dac. If you do have a good system, I think it makes a meaningful difference with perceived resolution.

*I say this even though I haven't listened to the VO in a few weeks; I don't want to miss them that badly...

 

There's definitely no bad choice in deciding which one to keep....this will definitely be to someone else's benefit!

P.S. It's hard parting with this, on the BW it has the best vocals I've ever heard. But ultimately I prefer the punchiness and preciseness of the verite closed, and I knew when buying it I had to eventually sell one. So unfortunately it's time to say goodbye.
