I wasnt going to bail just based on his comments just most audio forums have a lot of negativity in all forms. I don't hear the muddy bass that the 2015 fazor had in my pair. It sounds quite clean, although it does have a grain to the sound which I'm assuming is the new materials.

Compared to the 650 I find the 2016 cleaner, more extended at both ends with better imaging and a more defined stage. The thing with the 2016 is it lacks emotion compared to my 650 and Nighthawks. The Nighthawk while it has it's own issues gives that emotion I found in older LCD models and engaging phones like the 650.

When I tried the 2016 LCD-X I was disappointed it sounded like it was trying to be something like a HD800 but flopped at doing so.

I would send you guys my pair to measure but being it the UK it would cost a fortune.

Fair enough. I'm not saying the analogy was good, or that you need to agree, just that it isn't inapposite. All the same, and with all disrespect to @zonto, the mythical foe that is anax is way beyond the magnitude of the concerns raised.

    Hooray!

For what it's worth, unless you have the money and time, I wouldn't spend much of either chasing unicorn editions of the lcd-2. I know they are out there, and I can take it on faith they are really freaking good, but there are so many other good transducers in the market these days.

Yeah It's very frustrating finding the right LCD. I remember years ago I had one that sounded simply incredible, it was quick, had low distortion throughout with the tightest and cleanest bass I've ever heard.

What was so great though was its tone. I've heard many that that were passable and some that sounded an awful slurred grainy mess(all were fazors)

I see you guys have a grading system for the LCD'S. Just going by ear I would guess my 2016 are about a C since I've heard a lot worst but I've also heard some that were better than mine in the past.

I'd love to see measurements of mine and get them looked over by the more capable folks in that area like Marvey on the technical side of things.

I take it there's only one documented unicorn LCD-2, Craig's?
