LOL - Jaysus only asked a simple question as it's been a few years since I've heard a 2.1 LCD.

For those complaining that I've made a thread, get over it, drink some coffee and relax. I've read more bullshit threads that ended up in either car discussions or sex ive seen on a few and some are complaining about this.

I've got a lot of hobby's, Fishing, shooting, gaming, camping to name a small few and the audio hobby has the weirdest bunch of people that get angry over the stupidest things.

I think I'm done with forums anyway the amount of weirdos are crazy(This site has generally been ok) Zonto while I appreciate the apology for being a dick, I think you are a very strange person and need to get out more. The fact that that you even wrote an essay then trying to justify it tells me that you take this way too seriously.

    Have fun.

Unfortunate, some of the comments in this thread are exactly the type of self-righteous garbage I would expect to find on Head-fi to begin with.

GL with whatever you decide to do w.r.t the LCD

More like part of a squad, with you as a teammate, at least when the crime involves getting banned a chronic commercial seller of overpriced goods at the mothership.

You wouldn't want to see that. I'm basically a stick figure. Closest thing I have is a Carebear onesie I got as a gag wedding gift from my father-in-law. What it lacks in intimidation factor, it makes up for in disarming confusion and plushness...

I did read it. It's not fair for somebody to write a novels worth and it get overlooked by one of users it's aimed at.

I didn't think I would make such an impact. My opinion hasn't changed about his initial comment, though. Completely unnecessary and snobbish.

I'm sure it's all forgotten now; until the deathly hallows part 2 gets released.

    Uh.

From a money perspective, your 2016 pair will probably resell for more than a og lcd2 pair. Maybe you should try to buy the 2.1 outright and see what you think and go from there.

I would make no assumptions about the LCD2 drivers from long ago. I could give them a listen, and perhaps compare them to the LCD2 unicorn editions I have on hand. But even with this, I would avoid, because of their high failure rate or tendency to degrade over time. According to Audeze, every iteration was to address failures, from r2 to the Fazor. But the drivers seem to keep failing.

Personally, I would dump what you have if you are unsatisfied. The issue that I have with many of the current units is poor transient response and muddy bass, and to a lesser extent a plastic timbre because of the new material used. I don't know if you feel the same way. The best replacement with similar FR, but overall better technicalities is the Elear. Don't bother with Audeze LCD series to replace an LCD series if you are unsatisfied.

I thought I was the only one who thought this way. Tbf I've only heard the LCD3 and LCD4 from the fazors, but both- especially the LCD4 since I had that with my home rig- left me thinking, what's going on with these mids?

I get the exact same attitude from newcomers at my class when something they say gets challenged, or their behaviour gets questioned.

A few sessions later and you get to find out how cool they are deep down inside.

You don't need to act tough around me, zonto. I've seen it all before. This boils down to a difference of opinion and I'm more than happy to move on and leave it at that.

Do you use a gaming headphone?

As Marv said - you're not happy with your current setup. Now this has started it won't end until you have the feeling of being happy again with a new pair. The Elear is getting a lot of good feedback and seems to fall in the same price bracket as a new LCD 2 (more or less). Maybe you should cast your net a little further than the Audeze range?

Your story is inapposite, and you are still an asshole. I guess someone had to take anax' place.

Since there was a revision of whole lineup in fall 2015 and some users reported 2016 lcd2/3 is much better i would not swap them for warrantyless 2.1 version without in-person comparison. Topic of the latest revisions of audeze headphones has been barely touched by sbaf. I guess the majority of experienced folks got tired of audeze bullshit. Imo most logical thing to do is get both and sell the one you like less.

I have my doubts about the 2016 LCD2/3 being much better mainly because I don't read any descriptives of how it's much better. Did Audeze address the poor transient response, the muddy bass, the plastic timbre, the lower-treble spike (mostly buried, but still there)? And even if the changes are much better, will they stay that way, or existing units or units purchased in the future.

    That's pretty much it.

But then again, I could be proven wrong. If anyone has a "much better" 2016 LCD2/3 to send me for comparison to the LCD2.2 Unicorn editions I have on hand, that would be appreciated. We'll cover shipping both ways.

P.S. The ignore function works very well here. Better than it does at HF.

Did you have a chance to compare the Bill P modded LCD 2.2 to the Unicorn editions? Just wondering.

Nah, he's an attorney, with no comment on vanity we can't help the words. They just come anyway.

With due respect, the collection of threads on other forums that you refer to is exactly what he was trying to ward against.

Don't bail just because @zonto was grumpy and/or a potential asshole. His heart is in the right place, and SBAF is a solid forum: we have a giant all purpose advice thread where anyone can ask any question without worrying if its been asked before. This allows for two important things:
    1) when I want to learn what the forum thinks about item X (say an LCD 2.whatever) I don't have to wade through a million threads when I search "LCD 2.whatever", which inadvertently causes more threads to be created because people legitimately don't have the time to find out whether something has been asked before;
    2) if I am a regular user who might be able to help other users (yes, even randos) I don't have to hunt for their thread (which I probably am not looking for), I just review the all purpose advice thread once every few days and chime in if I have knowledge that is helpful. If that fails, just ignore and move on.

No, there is an analogy to be drawn about seeing something potentially "not right" and calling attention to it. Its not a 1:1 analogy, and its long, but the relevance is pretty plain. He may or may not still be an asshole. However, the comparison drawn in your last sentence is patently absurd.

My comment was not based on the substance of what was said, but the manner in which it was said, which was arrogant, condescending, and snarky; just like most of anax's posts actually, thus the comparison. And to draw a comparison between preserving evidence of a potential hit-and-run and upbraiding a forum poster because of disagreement about the post's location, and with such a shitty attitude to boot, is where the patent absurdity comes in.
