for sure "the powers that be" would LOVE to keep their dirty laundry private and NOT be called out for being deceitful, or for petty power play actions.

maybe you can ask Jude and Currawongdong to jump in here and carpet bomb moderate the entire thread to ensure that "no bad things" are ever reflected on the super powers.
because ya know, that's safest for everyone including us mere commoners.

The theft was an isolated occurrence. These things happen from time to time. The meets will be as they are. In other words, over my dead body. I'm sure people will be much more diligent going forward.

 

I advised parties to just drop it instead of issuing statements. Sometimes it's better to let it go rather than stir up a honest's nest. But I am more than happy to oblige. Reading about drama gives us a good break from looking at graphs. I didn't care to get into detail what went on between Jeff and HFM/Jude. At the end of the day, it's like that ST:TNG episode: A Matter of Perspective. But as Captain of the Ship, I will defend Jeff.

I don't even why this has even gone this far. I thought Jeff had asked us to hold Fang and HFM harmless (from prior posts):

In the end, it's understandable. No hard feelings. I don't want people getting the wrong opinion of Fang.

I feel bad for Fang. He tried really hard to make sure I knew it wasn't personal. In the end, I wish him the best of luck with HIFIMAN. Hopefully I helped him make a difference.

So at this point, I don't know what's going with the suddenly changed narrative. What happened? Did anyone even read any of what Jeff wrote?

P.S. I have my beef with some of the parties involved. There was an incident tangentially related to all this that left me feeling severely violated - like telepathically mind raped. I was going to spill the beans and go nuclear yesterday, but thankfully Ravi talked me out of it. This is why I am trying to keep calm. Feel free to keep fanning the flames though and I might tell my story.

 

LOL, it's so obvious what happened. Somebody mentioned lawsuit. Joint public statements were released around the same time denying it all. I don't blame them. Just standard operation procedure for any company or business entity.

 

You mean two successful businesses releasing statements via Reddit and email within 5 minutes of each other iterating similar points using interestingly similar language wasn't happenstance? You really think businesses work that way?!?

I don't blame them. All the parties outside of Jeff have serious money and income to protect.

Fangs current position is pretty clear: "Bottom line is I parted ways with Jeff because he did not do the job he was hired to do".

From what I'm reading, the job description partially entailed "to work with the Head-Fi community to promote HiFiMAN as a brand." Unfortunately "Jude had said from the beginning he wanted nothing to do with Jeff because he did not trust him". Furthermore "it became apparent that his [Jeff's] focus was not on Head-Fi and in fact, he seemed to be working at cross-purposes with that community. I have nothing against Changstar or now SBAF but there is obvious dislike between the communities and Jeff was caught in the middle of that". These reasons are apparently why Jeff was dismissed.

It seems to me folks here in SBAF have pointed out that Jeff was fired because Jude pressured Fang to fire him. Based on what I'm reading above, that's pretty much is what Fang is sort of saying. I mean, if your job turns at the last minute to be Jude's BFF, but Jude doesn't like you and tells your boss so, I guess you are not doing your job.

Bottom line: I don't see the contradiction. Just a desperate play of words to save face, and failing miserably in doing so.

 

From all that I've seen (real life), discussed and read, Jude is indeed something else.

yes @therealjay you are right, airing dirty laundry makes everyone look bad.
in my world that's a GOOD thing, way better than Super Villains thinking their back channel deals and power broker plays are acceptable or even moral.
I'd rather know about their shady dealings IF it's closer to reality, than stick my head in the sand so "no one looks bad" like every political party scandal coverup.

it's actually ACTIONS that make certain people look bad. more people only realize if it's leaked.
