Since this is SuperBestAudioFriends and not SuperBestHeadphoneFriends, a speaker loaner was eventually inevitable. Up for tour this time is the Blumenstein Orcas.

If interested, please post your general location (major city, state) when signing up. Established friends and contributors only please.

Ship with signature required, insure to $300. Duration for loan is five days per person. Please post in this thread when you receive the item and when you send it off.

Due to the exposed transducer, I will be posting explicit packing instruction for this at a later date. You must follow these instructions.

I’m interested. I wonder how much these are going to cost to ship?

I think @Vansen has an ideal single shipping box, so probably along the same costs as a power amp.

I bet it won't be awful. But you guys need to pay attention to how you pack, as to protect the driver in shipping...

Do these loaners have the recommended 400 hours of burn-in?

There's still room for more to sign up! These have about 100 hours on them. I'll put as many as I can on them this week.

I guarantee you, short of crating the speakers, my packaging will take take the cake for most bulletproof speaker packaging out there. You could launch the box out the UPS truck with a catapult and be fine. Pics and instructions later this week.

I haven't spent a whole lot of time with speaker packaging, but from my experience, AV123 had the best packaging out there during their short existence. I happened to have a box for their ELT525 bookshelf speakers laying around. Double boxed, with three layers of corrugate. I have their tower speakers, too, and the box has stood the test of time going from China > CO > MA > NV > GA > CT. It's still kicking.

For this loaner, I added a 1/4" plywood sheet on each side with a foam cover. The back has clearing for the tall and cheap looking binding posts.

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT SNAG THE TRANSDUCER ON THE FLAP OF THE BOX WHEN PACKING AND UNPACKING!! Tape it down or something.

There are cloth bags for the speakers. Don't lift the speakers out of the box by the cloth. Slide the cloth down and pull them out by sides.

    Here are some photos:
