So this is a bit of an odd one. I want to send my Hathor Cardioid Monitors around and gather some feedback.

The loaner isn't going to start until circa August. Maybe September or October for all I know.

Who would be interested? Shipping is of course going to be more expensive than normal. Two 20kg DHL packages. roughly 35€ within Germany, 65€ Germany to France and then shipping to the US is going to be a bit of a pain. Depending on how many sign up it's going to be manageable, though.

So I'd like as many as possible to sign up. Even if the loaner takes a while, I want valuable feedback.
My plan is to sell these speakers at some point, so feedback is essential. And shipping them is a valuable lesson in how to ship them anyway. For all I know they might break in shipping.

Do I need to include speaker stands? I'm talking DIY stands that would go with the speakers for the right listening height. I don't have plans yet, but they need to fit within the package.

Good start. Are you considering selling these with a subwoofer?

This cap in the front is a phase inverter?

P.S The market really needs more 3-way speakers.

No need for a sub with these.

Not sure what you mean by that. But the drivers aren't inverted if that's what you mean.

3-way... I will try something with the LS50 Meta drivers at some point. But I really doubt it'll sound better. The paper TB coaxes are way worse.

Ok, so they are closed speakers.

    ---

By 3-way I mean "full range" speakers. I am from the 3-way camp I guess since I have limited experience with full range 2-ways. Only Genelecs and Adams monitors.. which are still quite limited.

Bottom line, I would consider building / buying custom 2 ways if they sound as good/on bar with 3 ways.

LS50 Meta.. I hope these sound nothing similar too LS50 Wireless :p

Heh, they're ported to roughly 27 to 28Hz.

Yeah, the treble with the special notch filters is really quite good and most importantly it's not lacking the top octave at all. While still being smooth. I really like this widebander (with the notch filters).

I would be interested if they came to the US, but I suspect shipping would be prohibitive

My plan was to get enough people to sign up where it wouldn't be prohibitive anymore. Not sure how it goes.

Just for reference, I looked up GER - USA prices for DHL:
    2x20kg package: 286€
    1x31.5kg package 208€
The speakers themselves might fit into one 31.5kg package, but not with stands. They weigh 14kg each currently.
Shipping in a crate might be beneficial, though.

I enjoyed following the thread on the development of these and would like to hear them in my dedicated audio dungeon if they make it to the US. I would need stands for best placement, but could make do with what I have. I would be driving them with an ~25W PP amp, but it's a fairly small room, the furthest listening position is mid-field, so should be sufficient?

If shipping stands over the ocean is a major blocker for price, another option could be to purchase/borrow stands in the US to include with the loaner. Though-- from your numbers, it doesn't sound like the stands are all that heavy.
