Is it at least 95% as good as m50x?

Hows would you describe the resolution on these compared to other planars you're familiar with?

Tyll's tha man!! Great to have measurements available! The weight is good for planar at 340g. I wonder if the pads are replaceable.

Interesting. The shape of the cans reminds me of the classic Senns.

The price is not that bad.

Comparison to a PM-2 would be nice.

That's a peculiar shape to the isolation profile... shared by the Ether C.
I wonder what causes the hump/plateau.

The hump at 100Hz or the one at around 1kHz? The one at 100Hz is the pad bounce; don't know about the 1kHz stuff.

Sorry, it's already back in a box to be shipped overnight back to Dan for CanJam NYC.

It's good though, you guys will have fun dissecting and comparing it. Again, only one day of listening, but I think its weak point may be treble resolution, which is good and tonally correct (to my ears), but not as clean as the Elear, though may be better than most planars.

Yeah I was asking about the 1kHz peak/plateau. To have a narrower peak would indicate to me an enclosure resonance or mark the discontinuity/transition point from one portion of the enclosure to another that has different attenuation properties, but that extended plateau is odd.

I remember reading about the pad bounce in earlier articles by you. I wonder if anyone has tried to quantify the relationship between the isolation/FR/pad bounce.

PM-2. I rather like the PM-2. The PM-X is better, but the PM-2 should also be given credit. Also PM-2 is around the same price.

@Tyll Hertsens any thoughts/words on the AEON compared to the Ether C (non-Flow)?

The elongated cups should fit those of use with oblong ears better too.

Yep. Will likely show "OOS" until 1700 PST. Then Dan has put a cap of 250 for the discounted pre-order AEON's. Cheers

Oh wow, really good measurements for a planar magnetic, and especially at that price point. From the FR it looks to be a little bit warm and slightly dark (hence the "smooth" description of the sound). The looks aren't doing anything for me though. I see a lot of Hifiman in that profile and color scheme and I really think a red or blue accent color would have given the Aeon a little bit more of a "Mr Speakers" vibe.

Nice little harmon kardon bass boost it has going on. Dan musta been hearing the thoughts of Tyll on that issue with his previous offerings.

This can looks really comfortable, I hope there's an open version.
