    Very interesting headphone

I'm pretty sure they'll make an open version of this, and I hope they make it black...then I'll buy

Keen to hear more impressions after tour later this year. :) Looks very promising and may be a strong candidate for Schlong Award Nominee 2017?

Hope Aeon is a winner. Planar for an affordable price that rocks. Me like. Used to live in San Diego for many winters. Finally someone gets a product that kicks everyone else's ass (We hope). Mr Speakers...... you have shown that you are not here for the wrong reasons, but all the right ones. Hope your Aeon pans out to take the world on fire.

Would like to have planars without having to spend 2K to have good sound.

There is a full OLED home cinema system for my livingroom in the cards for the future. I'm not going to spend out with the headphones. There has to be a solution that is realistic. Oh yea, HD650.

Now I'm wondering what to do.
    Oh my......
Oh wait..... gotta have that OLED in the next 2 years.

Maybe me should get some sleep...... nite

FR and distortion measurements look very good, even better than most ethers and flows.
Ergonomics and isolation also seem improved.

Really interested to hear how people here will evaluate this new product.

The shape is very similar to the new Sennheiser noise cancelling cans. PX550 I think.

Any comments on the sound? Dark? Bassy? detailed?

For relative comparisons, I don't have experience with the PX550, but I do know the ATH50s and most of the open Senns. Also know Beyer aberrations, among others.

Glad to hear it isolates well from Tyll. Been thinking about a closed back for a while. Getting one

If this sounds good, people should tear Dan's arm off to get one. We've seen how poorly-served the "midrange" (below $1000, cough cough) market is right now with all the stupid flagshipflation- there's a dearth of good options after the HD650. If you consider good current production closed cans, then the pickings get even slimmer.

I suspect that lots of people will be watching this one closely. It looks promising. Also, it's such an under-served segment right now, there's potential to really clean up.

We worked hard on both of these issues. I personally pushed Dan on the isolation issue. if you're going to make a closed back, it needs to isolate pretty well.

It really says something about the current state of the hobby when we think 800 dollar planars are affordable.

Also, more companies should make headphones like this that are in the shape of our ears.

am in favor of Mr Dan involving the community for early access, feedback and attempting to deliver a product without 4.8 revisions within months after release.
would also be good if the Secret Mr Dan Development team would stand up so consumers can account for potential bias in the sure to be upcoming Rave Hype Train Reviews.

I just read on the product page that the Aeon "is finished in genuine carbon fiber and a midnight blue/black metallic paint." The images on the product page do a little bit better job of showing off the finish and I have to say that I like it moreso than yesterday when I thought it was just a basic black.

I have never HATED a pair of headphones like I hated the Ether C MK 1.1 - I felt like a sucker for spending that kind of money on them. They were painfully bright and the lows were damn near non-existent. I almost wonder if I had a defective unit, I mean they sucked. If that's how they were supposed to sound.... they were horrendous. Sold 'em on eBay for a loss and gleefully shipped them out as every time I saw them sitting on the shelf I felt like a fool.

Anyway.... looking forward to reviews on these as I loved the Mad Dogs and owned 3 pairs.... it's not worth the risk in my opinion with the no refund policy.... these guys are constantly working out the bugs and I don't want to be stuck in the "send 'em back and pay a few hundred bucks to get the Rev MK 2.3.5 version with the toilet paper and craft store felt inserted for some bass edition"

Looking at the product pics, I have one comment concerning the mechanical design. The cups are held at a single point. This connection will be subject to a lot of strain and looks too fragile to me.
