You sly fox! Okay, send it over. I need my Yggdrasil love curbed.
For the greater good. Count me in...
@dark_energy To help ensure the unit doesn't get lost, I highly recommend NOT sending the unit to randos unless it's the super-rare exception where you know this person IRL and can vouch for them. Especially since the Wavelight isn't a cheap item.
Yes. Only the more well know established members with some track record are allowed.
Anyone recieving it - make sure to follow the Covid rules. Try to clean the outside package if you hand it over (I wouldnt touch the device itself with any chemicals for obvious reasons) Take good care of the item, youself and other people by staying clean.
This is all for now.
Also about the number is people @ChaChaRealSmooth , would u say it's better to divide in 2 runs or do it in one go?
I gotta say the 2 loaners I made, even with few members, took some logistics.
That's hard to say. I know Rockna is having a hard time keeping Wavelight in stock at their dealers; the update on the US unit is that they think it will be ready in about 4 weeks. Asking for a second unit might be too much. Plus I've never planned for a EU loaner and have no idea how shipping logistics works there. Typically here in the US I ship loaners out either west to east or east to west.
About shipping and insurance:
There are really few options for insured foreign shipments (at least in here). They either non-existent or comically priced (+200€).
Literally the only courier / service I've managed to find with reasonable insurance fees is this:
13€ for insurance up to 1000€
18€ for insurance up to 2000€
No options for higher insurance values
But I've got no prior experience with them.
Please check your shipping options well before the loaner tour starts. Also, feel free to chime in if you've got any recommendations.
I always use UPS for higher value items, as the insurance levies are much more reasonable.
Regarding shipping and insurance in Europe:
I often use shipping platforms which combine offers by different couriers.
You can easily compare conditions and choose best option. Best option will depend on shipping destination, size, weight, run time and insurance conditions.
Usually prices are far better than dealing with the courier service directly, because these platforms generate many thousands of shipments.
Insurance conditions will contribute in a major way to the total shipping costs and here the differences might be less interesting when dealing with high value goods.
Choice of german, english, french and currencies (top of page at the right side).
german / french / italian / spanish (see bottom of page to the left).
There is also the professional devision of Packlink if you run a business.
Especially the insurance fee for new items is very reasonable. Don‘t know if a loaner would count as „new“....
I did actually (re)check what UPS has to offer. UPS standard (55x50x20cm and 10kg) was 65,7€ from Finland to Sweden - including insurance up to 2000€. I think that's actually reasonable, it was the faster options that were significantly more expensive.
Good find @Collusion, that simplifies between us in Scandinavia and it's pretty reasonable.
One more check before the loaner. Sign yourself up if you are able.
I hope this loaner will begin in October or November. It would be one of the best items I'd have the honor of listening to besides masterpieces like the EC Studio.
Alright, I'm in, might be able meet with @Serious personally since he lives kinda close to me or at least around Munich.
Tho I am still new here and relatively unexperienced I would like to compare it with my Yggi A1 and (Gungnir Multibit A2 on memory).
I live in Frankfurt and have a lot of time atm thanks to the "pandemic" so I can pick it up by car.
New members are off-limit, only "Friends" are allowed for obvious reasons.
By the time the loaner ends (2~3 years) you might be a friend!
May want to edit (if you can) your initial post with this information in case you get more ppl interested and this post gets lost in the thread.
Any news or developments considering this loaner tour?
I am going to let you know if I have any updates.
