My favorite cheap iems are the truthear red using stock medium tips with the smaller bore. I am curious if the waner and zero2 mentioned are comparable to these.

Haven't gotten ears on the Truthear REDs yet myself but frankly I think the Zero:2s are way too bassy and fatiguing. The Truthears are more reserved down low, albeit with a less gradual slope "upwards" into the bass so could be less annoying in that respect but at expense of body and to an extent timbre?

The Wan'ers, I still really like for the price. That said, the build quality is potatoes and while I appreciate it having a longer cable because of how I wear my IEMs (in a coat pocket or jeans pocket, wrapped around the back of my torso), the included 1.4M thing can get a bit tangly.

Someone actually measured the Wan'er Studio Editions (different voicing from the regular one) on a 5128 lmao, didn't recognise a lot of the other models on their list so I went with the IE900: https://earphonesarchive.squig.link...ennheiser_IE900&bass=0&tilt=-1&treble=0&ear=0

I feel variance is gonna be particularly high with a budget IEM like this but it's interesting drawing correlations between the 5128 HATS sample above and the measurements I made on an IEC711 clone that I think is from Sounds Good Store on AliExpress.

The Wan'er Studio Editions are like Php1020 on Shopee atm, might be fun for you to see how they compare. FWIW I do like em a lot more than the Zero:2s, less dry presentation and the upper mids elevation is more benign *somehow*, but the treble really is hit or miss depending on upstream.

Honestly most surprising and welcome tech news I've heard in a long while. It's a Christmas miracle.

Do we recommend the new Power Beats Pro 2? I need something that integrates well with an iPhone and will be reliable for workouts, walking, biking, yard work, etc.. I see mostly praise for these but not sure the legitness of those recommendations.

I got some Moondrop Space Travel TWS last year and I find them totally unusable. They connected to my Iphone and Macbook Pro once, but now I can never get them to connect and work properly.

I use the Beats Fit Pro for working out. The sound quality and ANC is worse than AirPod Pros, but these are never at risk of falling out during a run, and they’re comfortable. Though, they are a bit long in the tooth, and I saw rumors of a new model being released in the next year or two.

I haven’t heard the new Powerbeats Pro 2 and I haven’t yet seen measurements either. My hope would be still similar tuning to the OG but more refined (even) treble; this is the weakness of the OG.

I prefer the APP2 tuning indoors but for outdoors, in the hot Florida sun, I really enjoy the Powerbeats Pro OG, for the ear hook stability and the bass with open venting. It balances out nicely, while still being able to hear my environment.
