I had an 86 xr4ti, and another owner showed me the mod with the vacuum hose. Made it a much better car, but I was always afraid it was gonna blow up. It also seemed to delay the drop in boost that hit when the waste gate opened. Especially effective at altitude (lived in Boulder at the time). Whenever I took it in for service, I put it back to stock to avoid a warranty problem. Underrated car. Read an article once that said it looked like a geothermal event bubbling up through the tarmac. Lol. Sorry for the OT.

Good stuff @purr1n. I'll share this with him, any / all graphs or info Cees provides, though my hope is he'll signup as a MOT and enter the discussion directly.

Either way, I'd to say again that in regards to the 1kHz, dual-tone IMD, and multi-tone measurements, none of us can hear these tiny distortions of steady state signals. We simply do not play music loud enough and in quiet enough rooms for any of this to make a difference.

I would be curious if my son can detect the high-frequency roll-off though. He had an easier time detecting the super high-frequency katydids in the ground yesterday. I could barely hear them. My son thought they were screaming loud.

I'd almost guarantee it. And I'm sure you could too if you did an A/B test with normal playback and music upsampled at least 4X. Hmm, you could probably just take a short music clip, create an upsampled version yourself (not real-time upsampling in playback software), then just flip between the two tracks.

I know, it's only -0.5dB at 10KHz, roughly, but the way the NOS roll-off/curve starts gently around 3KHz or so I think is quite audible on redbook content.

It is clearly audible on the iFi Pro iDSD, when switching between BP and BP+.
