If any of you are thinking of hopping on this deal, I should mention that the guy was pretty rude to me when I was pming him asking questions about the condition. He just ended the conversation asking me not to waste his time because I had found a deal I was more interested in.

Knew the handle sounded familiar. @ductrung3993 has an account here too, the Magni and Paradox are listed on the F/S here as well. Seems like a nice enough person, hoping rudeness was inadvertent

That was me. Don't be a crybaby and a liar.
You never asked about the condition, you asked these typical pleasant question: "are these available", "are these paradox, and not slant", and then stated that you're not interested in these since you prefer the slant, but not without asking "are the magni 3 output 1/4" on top of that.

To be fair, answering a bunch of questions for someone who is clearly on the fence about purchasing in the first place is genuinely annoying. To me, at least. I don’t mind being helpful but I do mind wasting my time.

Sorry, that was because I saw a listing from a while back where someone posted a slant as "Enigmatic Paradox Headphones," so I wanted to double check. Also people dont update closed listings on head fi quite often.

Saying I wasn't interested isn't fair. I fully intended to purchase those until I found the other deal on the Teaks. Also I only sent you two quick messages until I let you know I found another deal. If thats too much then I apologize, but I was genuinely curious about them. Either way this isn't the place for this, so I'll drop it.

    Hi,

I'd like to know how long I can store an amplifier without powering it up? I intend to swap my I'd mkiii with the violectric v200 taking turns every few months. What may be an estimate for keeping the amps without power?

You should keep it in the refrigerator, so it doesn't spoil.

    ...

    Sorry. Couldn't help it.

What specifically are you worried about?

I dont think u shud worry abt storing ur amp. I know ur concern. It's not like a car that it needs warm ups, otherwise will break down. Especially if we're only talking abt months.

On the other hand, also dont worry abt leaving ur SS dacs or amps on all the time too. I often do that. It will be warmed up and ready whenever u want to have a listen.

I heard that elcos and condensators can dry out. I even read about a guy who left his digital recorder 3 months without power having problems with the appliance!

What do you think happens to electronic components after they are made in factories and are stored in warehouses for months? Or to finished electrical goods, which also sit around for months before they are bought by consumers?

Off the top of my head, I can imagine problems with things that use lead acid batteries which need constant charging (e.g. a UPS) or NiCad/NiMH batteries (uh, some shavers? Some Roomba robots?). Not anything else though.

    Uh, no.

I mean, yes, some types of caps can "dry out" which is another way of saying corrosion due to bad electrolytes, but that issue was fixed about 20 years ago with solid (non-liquid) electrolytes, I think.

Here... read this. It says things.

hi hi! been out of the loop quite a bit in terms of headphonery, especially closed-backs.

looking to get something to complement my speaker setup to use at my PC desk-

and, hoping to get something that can do this:
good comfort (likely top priority), good build, and a decently good sound without having a withdrawn midrange. I do want some soundstage, if possible.

detachable cables would be a nice plus, as I wouldn't mind running it in BAL mode.
isolation isn't top priority, just don't want crazy leakage/completely open back.

amping will very likely not be a problem, as long as they're not too low impedance or uber-sensitive.
budget around €4-500, used is very much OK. I don't mind buying overseas, but tax and import fees are 100% happening here (25% + €7.5)

some experiences I've had: I didn't like the TH-X00/Denon 7200 comfort, but the sound was good to me.
Ether C 1.1 (non-flow I think) was IMO great but the price is a little high, seems to be going for around 1k used.
MDR-Z7 ticks the but sound, and I got the impression that they're not good enough to even consider modding.
T50rp mods - I heard the first Paradox version and some Mad Dogs that weren't bad at all, but thinking there might be some better ones available now, with comfier pads? (I think the Paradox had some sort of cut up socks as pads...).

I also saw some Audio Technica SR-9, which I thought look like an upgrade to the MSR-7- a pair that I thought seemed good, if they could be a little less bright and a bit more bass. curious about these, if anyone has heard them?

hopefully that might be enough to get a feel of what I like. sorry about the long-ish post, and thank you!

Closed headphones are always a compromise. I have become skeptical of spending large sums on them. Therefore, if you can find one locally, I recommend the relatively inexpensive Sennheiser 598Cs. Is it endgame? No. Is it good? Yes. Does it suit your criteria? I think so!

I do understand where you're coming from :p but I have to admit I was not a huge fan of their tonal balance, seemed a little dark at times.
while I do know there are a lot of compromises for closed-backs, especially in my price-range, I am hoping to get something just a little bit better than that.

thank you very much for your thoughts!

those are definitely on my list, possibly top contender. I can't seem to find them for what I am hoping to spend though, and I am reading about some channel balance issues - have to read a little more though, seems to measure well and everything else is top notch :)

    thank you
