@dBel84 Do you thinking adding Atomicbob’s NoiseNuke to the LCX would reduce the hiss I get with super sensitive CA iem’s? Or if not maybe a linear power supply? I’d love to be able to use the amp with these iem’s.

How much useable volume control do you have - this might be a sensitivity / gain issue . Always worth trying the noise nuke as it would reduce psu noise further

Just to share my experience with sensitive IEMs (Andromeda), I have both Carbon X & AAA 789 on my desk, using Modius XLR as a DAC, I have 0 background noise using balanced output, which is quit amazing to be honest.
So your unit may be defective. Don't know.

with the 789 or the LCX? I did get my LCX free in the FS forums but from a goof member and it doesn’t have a scratch on it and seems to be in great shape. Serious hiss with CA iem’s using balanced output (fed by SE input)

Very little. I finally gave up and put the LCX in the closet waiting for a less sensitive iem or dynamic iem in the future. Which is bound to happen and then the 789 might sound like Saran Wrap

The THX amps are awesome on IEM's. Esp. BA's. Although balanced might be too hot of an output. It won't sound like saran wrap.

    Both.
But I wanted to react to your post since my Carbon X is completely silent with my Andromeda, as expected.

Well god damn. That’s frustrating. Something must be wrong with mine. I wish I could use it for iem’s! Too bad Drop offers no repair service. Wtf do I do with it now.

I was sort of kidding. Someone else referred to the sound of the 789 with full size headphones as Saran Wrap. I think if I used ortho or dynamic iem’s (I’m hoping someone will make a good ortho iem) the lcx would be the better amp. The infinite feedback is only a special thing for BA’s I believe.
