How far down will the HD-650 go on black friday? It's $420 new on Amazon right now, but I'd like to get it below $400 and I still have yet to make a paypal account to do anything on Head-Fi or here. Maybe I'll just make the paypal and get it used from someone instead of going new.

In the past new HD650s went down to lower than $300 following Thanksgiving. So hold your money for several more weeks and monitor techbargains.com for promotions.

$300 is a smoking deal for the hd650. I paid $400 and thought it was amazing for that price when I got it.

I got my HD600 new from B&H Photo new for $270 shipped in May. At the time, I remember the HD650 were either $300 or $350. Although, I wouldn't buy from B&H anymore

Take your time and you'll most likely be OK. These soldering tutorial videos are pretty awesome:

I was told by a dealer that Sennheiser very recently raised the dealer cost of the the HD6x0, so you might not see deals as low as in previous years.

@jowls: I agree with batriq - you should be just fine if you decided to pull the trigger while the sale was in effect. No single step is any harder than a crack/speedball build, there are just a lot more of them. Taking it nice and slow, and avoiding marathon late night soldering sessions, is the tried and true advice for these kits.

@fierce_freak: Sorry to hear the timing was off this go around! On the upside, I can confirm that BH seems to run this discount (same as the preorder price) once or twice a year on mainlines, so there should be opportunities to catch the same break in the future.

If anyone is interested in the SE535, I'd recommend contacting customer service at SamAsh. I've had good experience with them beating that price.

Personally, I'd be careful with the SE535 , as someone who has owned it several times. The SE535 has excellent build quality, great warranty repair and a lush sound. But the resale value on these is not what it used to be. I haven't been able to get $300 for them the last couple times I've owned them, even without any of the original tips being used. Audition if you can, but I would really plan on keeping it long term unless you're ok losing $50. I can like the SE535 plenty... as long as you're out and about and just want a good time. In my experience, classical music -especially strings- exposes some unforgivable deficiencies with the SE535.

I don't know how other people think about taking a bath on products but if I lose no more than 30% of a products value for keeping it say a year I would still call that a win.

I mean more for trying it out; it used to be you could sell a used one for $350 no problem. Now, $300 is tough. But, yeah, you're right. They hold their long term value more or less. You'd probably always be able to get $250, even without packaging. Maybe that makes them a good deal in themselves.

Still, if anyone is looking for a good deal, I've got a contact at SamAsh who may be able to help you out. Great guy.

I can't recommend this product from experience but I think I just heard about it on this forum. The Vibro Veritas for iem measurement is $49, down from $99: http://vibrolabs.com/products/veritas

Yes. It is highly recommended that someone grabs that for a Code-X conversion. I still view Code-X as being the world's best ortho to date.

    Here's a measurement I made of @zerodeefex's Code-X a while ago:

    Channel matching is equally impressive.

I'm still waiting on my own Code-X whenever Luis is done, but trust me, I am VERY tempted to pick that one up as a "backup". So... someone else should jump on that before I change my mind.

8% JetCash to use at Jet.com if you order using Jet Anywhere: https://jet.com/anywhere

The affiliate Adorama link is from Slickdeals. I wanted to post a non-affiliate link, but the combo price shows up at $749 http://www.adorama.com/SEHD650C.html.

If you wanted to get the 8% Jet Anywhere, I would add the combo to your shopping cart first and then click on Adorama's link through Jet.com.
