WANTED: AUDEZE LCD-1 (<NOT> THE MODERN ONE)

You know exactly which LCD-1 I mean. Er, well, actually, you probably don't.



Audeze did that frustrating thing which companies tend to avoid doing -- but eventually end up doing anyways -- where they release two headphones with the same model number because the old one is no longer in production.

The LCD-1 was originally the first headphone Audeze released, limited to a run of 25 units total and consisted of a custom planar driver in an OEM chassis with a Canare cable hacked onto it and a massive block of foam damping behind the driver. I have owned it before and it is extremely bright, with high ear canal interaction and bass rolloff uncharacteristic of modern Audeze. Overall, rather unpleasant and likely not something I will be using regularly.

This, however, is a highly collectible piece of equipment, and one I want to have in my stable for posterity. I managed to get one about 5 years ago. Of course, me being the jackass I am, I sold it to cope with financial issues about 4 years ago. It was either those or the DR-Z7 that had to go... and I admittedly made the wrong choice.

I have tried getting in contact with the person whom it ended up with, now that my money situation is less tight, to no avail. Thus I shall try this instead.

Yep... it was your pair. It was fitted with a custom cable and had stax lambda pad inserts.

It had a slight channel imbalance as well with the right channel showing more abrupt bass rolloff according to Tyll's measurements. If there's one piece of gear in this hobby I truly regret selling, this is it.

I do own one of the 25 original issue headphones. I’ve had to replace the ear pads and headband with identical parts from a donor with the same shell. I did score 6 donor shells to maintain near perfect condition.

I am sorry it is not for sale.
