Stop posting about getting busted. Being quiet is the best thing for you discipline-wise but also socially. You are young and got drunk and it's illegal. Bummer for you, but also not a surprise. Log off, go outside, do your homework.

This isn't because of drinking. This is unrelated. Also there is a lot of snow outside.

This is about racism. My friends made a few racist jokes, just to ourselves, but some people overheard and got offended. Now, public safety is interviewing everyone on the floor and my friend might get kicked out of the dorm.

I'm just posting because I am somewhat worried and am unsure what will happen to us. Hopefully nothing scarring of a permanent record.

This is a great lesson for you, Spwath. First, racism is serious and not a joke. Check your head. Second, if you ever put any racist or other offensive shit on social media, it will be there to f**k up your chances at a job literally decades later.

P.S. Talk to a woman. A woman of color, for example. Say hi to her and ask her what she's been reading/listening to that's really got her attention. That's a good start.

Social media? I don't use that. Anyway, I think I might need to leave here for a bit longer. I might take a month off. I need to focus on figuring out my real life.

Also take a moment to scrutinize the people you are keeping company with. Are you putting yourself in an environment where this is now a pattern that's not going away. There's a reason recovering alcoholics are instructed to break the relationships that enabled them to abuse alcohol (12 step?)

That doesn't excuse you from your actions. Its just your life is much easier to live with quality relationships...

There was nothing bad really said anyway. It's just been blown way out of proportion. Just some jokes, nothing really bad. Lots of it was jokes made on the TV show "The Office". Anyway though, I understand what people are saying about everything recently, and I'm thinking about a lot. Anyway, I'm off now. I'll try not to come back for a month.

Much as I hate institutional, formulated, check-list political correctness, yes... learn what is good and bad in life.

There is a long tradition of students at least dreaming of, if not actually trying to change the world for the better.

Go mix with some activists. Learn some real lessons. Discover and fight prejudices in yourself (start now: it is a lifetime job!).

You need to not say things because you know its wrong, not because of the rules. And yes, that can actually be hard stuff to learn.
