It's gone from nuisance to being a bit of an influence in far too many audio circles. Lots of people go there to get bad information. Not worth rehashing old arguments, but worth tackling new ones.
Its influence continues to spread like the black plague. The misinformation should be fought. I dread the day if ASR thinking prevails as the dominant criteria for products. Measures great but sounds like shit. They do no favors for audiophiles.
Well, I had no idea it was that influential, but is SBAF really influential enough on its own to have much of an effect on ASR? Doesn't seem like it to me, so why waste time?
They drop shit in the bucket, some of the shiteaters sign up here and stink up the place during their short lived existence, that's why, tired of the shit, like always
Other than that, bashing ASR and calling them names is fun. They are already on the way down. People are already getting sick of great measuring but bad sounding gear.
It's worth calling attention to Amir's biases, inconsistencies, and myopia because some people will research ASR before following his "recommends" and criticisms on SBAF and elsewhere might help prevent them from buying some crap product.
I've seen users in audio groups on Facebook share the comparative measurement "recommendation" charts updated from time to time on ASR as authority/evidence backing their own recommendations. Me telling them I've owned something (or its similar predecessor) recommended and well ranked on the chart and that it sounded horrible falls on deaf ears. I like to think this is why we resist.
