Could be bright on a THX Amp in my experience when I had a Clear. Maybe the SW51+ might be a slightly better fit (considering a lot of people are saying this is not a warm amp).
I have a feeling that SW51+ might be better here. I haven't gotten mine yet, and I do not own a Clear. There must be some Clear owners with the SW51+ on here. Might be worth asking if the treble is still metal on metal at times.
OR, downsize to a BF2 and build a cheaper single ended synergistic setup. Or just not worry about Yggdrasil SE outputs, especially if you're looking for a "cheap" amp.
Depends on your personal preference. I'll give two examples of mine.
1) Matrix XSP THX amp Clears: initially impresses with apparent clarity but over time it is really the equivalent of Video Soap Opera Effect. Too much aggregate clarity.
2) Bifrost-2 SW51+ Clears: initially doesn't draw attention to itself, but over time delivers a relaxed, much more engaging experience. Better balanced synergistic system.
If you're worried about the Yggdrasil SE outs, might be worth your time grabbing a Freya S: that way you'll have balanced/SE conversion problem solved forever, for any amp.
Out of Gungnir Multibit a2, THX + Clears were too bright/not synergistic, and I greatly preferred the Asgard 3 + Clear combo (which had better layering, fuller soundstage). Considering Gungnir Multibit a2 and Yggdrasil a1 seem to have similar tonality, would not recommend THX + clears.
