    When the e-series came out, the HF'ers rehashed the old argument about the drivers. I had agreed to write a mini-review of the 225e, so I called Grado Labs to ask. I asked the secretary if someone would discuss it with me. Next thing I heard was John Grado yelling, "Are you the guy who's lying about my headphones on the forums?!" I assured him that I was not. And he kindly answered all my questions for half an hour.

    Bass on 51+ is tighter and more correct. It’s that last step your optometrist dials in at the end of an eye exam. They are so close but the SW is just tighter in all ways. It sounds really dialed in and speakerish in tone.

    It's my reference. Class A, solid state, internal power supply, RK27 POT.
    
    My previous go-to was a ZDT Jr, which is getting an RK27 POT installed soon. Not the most neutral, but it's a lot of fun.

    I love the staging of the SW51. it's rather deep, but not too wide, and yes, definitely puts instruments in front of you instead of between-the-ears. Not sure about wraparound staging, I've never heard that before, but I do like the SW51's way of presenting musical information.

    Good tubes allow that. Signal is less "wronged". Based on what excellent ss speaker amps can do it should be possible for headphones, an experience so far eluded me.

  Found one minor issue with my Piety. It has a scratchy pot. It's only when I turn it, so it's not a real problem. :)
