Watched the trailer. Seems weird for Napoleon to have an American accent, would be weirder if it was an American with a cheesy French accent, do it with French actors speaking French and you lose popular appeal.
Some film lore -- Kubrick was gonna do one, but he thought it would be too difficult, so he made another period piece instead, the very excellent Barry Lyndon.
The usual thing is to have all the foreign characters speak in an English accent. But if the movie has many prominent English characters, it would be better for the French to speak in American accent. Bah! Just make the movie in the languages the characters spoke, and use subtitles.
