I think electric cars are such a fetish. Hybrids are way more practical if you want to be economical and efficient

I don't have a licence and it's actually really not necessary where I live to have one. I'm on the side of improving public transport and walking around, though I understand that's not feasible in every circumstance. Hybrids ftw.

I had an electric moped. Cold batteries/accu-systems die, always bring a spare. Public transport is okay in the Amsterdam region but years of budget cuts and big projects (Noord-Zuidlijn) made a mess of connections. After 2030 car ownership will be more difficult and I do not trust electric vehicles in the Winter. Last year the Fall-Winter period was riddled with storms.

Gas stations can't pump without electricity.

I don't mind electrics for just going around town... would not want one outside of most urban-ish or well developed parts of suburbia in the US though. Or for any real driving.

Otherwise, I just saw that BMW said they "figured out hydrogen" and the Mirai seems to be holding up from what I can see. But same problems - I'd only want it for getting around town.

OTOH - Still eyeing a GR86 and hopefully a used current gen Cayman GTS/GT4 later on.

Add an old small truck for occasional work use or maybe a full on oversized smol-PP-mobile truck if prices crash.

Still waiting for a viable hydrogen solution. Until then, I stick with hybrids.
