The Elear might as well be a ZMF creation anyways...

Except the Elear, while more dynamic and cleaner sounding, is missing some of that ZMF Omni mid range realism.

Yeah, Zach does love his mids. I will give you that, no suck out...

I am super curious about the scaling potential of this. Because I'm starting to think the Elear is a scaling monster, topped only by the HD650 (and friends)

It would be hilarious if Jude bought one of these with the gold face modeled after his own.

The Sennhieser engineers must be looking at this monstrosity and thinking, "And people thought though 55K was too much for all of the engineering put into the Orpheus 2!"

Focal just dumped a bucket of jewels and precious metal on this thing and slapped a 110K price tag on it...

After learning about Head-Fi's effect on the headphone market, I think Jude has accounted for half the cost of the Elear...

€110,000 for a headphone? The Orpheus 2 does seem cheap by comparison haha. They're not promising any unearthly uranium radio-active ring 100k mm drivers either are they?

Oh shit Oh shit Oh shit! The new ZMF's look dope! But then I look at my cherry Omni and sigh, there's not much wrong with it for me to run around trying to sell it and jump on the next new "revolutionary" headphone...

They should call it the "sheikh edition".

And I'm not expecting an "upgrade" program this time... I'm planning to enjoy my Omni's regardless. New potentially "better" headphones coming out doesn't make the current headphones I have "bad" because of that. Eventual evolution is inevitable and should be welcomed than used as an excuse to whine.

I believe the Elear has potential and the resolution already above most and right up near hd800 already.

It didn't happened yet, but is no way shamed...
    It is an underdog.

What I have heard of easily up close to the hd800 in resolution/dynamics so hopefully with modding it stands a chance to usurping my hd800 (as a preference choice only).

It is clearly a monster that will destroy a Flow or LCD-X as it is superior in resolution/realism.

I agree they show huge potential,
although initially it looks like it will need more than minor mods.

That's what I call "good to know" type of bad news.
I bet I could change that spike with a bit of hair spray over the drivers ,
Of course that would also be crazy.. lol

That headphone has NOTHING compared to the bling I had done on my HD800 once!.. Lol.

I since got embarrassed, as my HD800 looked too girly, and so I changed the look to a wartime army old man look..

It looks like these could compete or even beat the TH900 now,
Yet even the TH900 is not a match for the HD800 in resolution.

The Elear on the other hand, can get closer, which places the Elear above all others trying to dethrone the HD800.
It cannot (in its current stock state) go up against a modded HD800, but modded would be an interesting challenge.

I haven't check what Tyll has on his WOF,
But no can has ever "decisively" beaten a HD800x, not even stax as people disagree on both sides..

Anyways the point is, if a headphone can get you 90℅ of an HD800 attributes in realism, regardless of its signature, it is exceptional..
I would say the Elear is in that TOTL class headphones and needs a DIY push.

I herd the Elear yesterday at a friend's house for a few hours.

I am part of the "NYdream crushers" gone rouge for Elear,
    Lol

Iwas not with them at the time of the infamous Elear assault to their ears..

And I would agree that it is logical to assume the Utopia is TOTL, if the Elear can reach that general level *with* modding.
*Edit* the area I specify is in "realism".

As it stands, it is a bit too intense because of the lower range elevation just adds to the dynamics..
It has a speaker like theatre signature with its depth and makes your eyeballs open wide lol!

The term TOTL is a poor one. Sony's Z7 was/is their TOTL, but nobody here thinks they can hang with most any mfg's top entry. The Elear is Focal's #2 and it tops the Z7 as well...
