Dick picks and the name "guy under the bridge" seem to go hand-in-hand.

    Or dick-in-hand, I should say.

Suspect DSD experience? What are you talking about? All of @Torq's DACs are more expensive than yours and the Vega is widely reported to be among the best DACs around. I've borrowed the Vega for several weeks and would agree. Also, @Torq has also heard about 59 more DACs than you. Also, it's obvious you have no DSD music which was natively recorded (A to D) in DSD. Many experienced people have pointed your that your DAC is low-fi, maybe mid-fi at best. Cheap mass produced junk from China, but like objectivists on Reddit, you still refuse to believe this. In fact, you even refuse to believe in your own words about cost relating to sound quality. Your treatment is a result of your own hypocrisy.

    Do it! Do it!

Either this guy is a troll/asshole, or he's autistic. Either way nothing is going to change and he's going to keep taking up our time and energy.

    Too funny.

*sigh* I think GUTB's senses are a little mixed up. Maybe he does indeed hear different as well.

    That's OK.

@GUTB, I think things could go a lot smoother if you did not come across a bit arrogant in some of your posts. It's also kind of pointless to accuse folks as objectivists, inexperienced, and w/o taste given many here seem to run circles around you in terms of experience and exposure to quality equipment and content. The valid point you may have is that you like what you like.

The audio equipment you like IMO is not awful. But none are references across the board.

GUTB reminds me of Judeus somehow. Less of an asshole, but doesn't really make much of a difference.

Native DSD recordings, about as "big" of a catalog as Direct to Disc LPs. And for the same reasons: cannot edit/cannot do mastering moves.

Nah. Autistic people (esp asperger) may be socially hopeless cases, but they tend to be sharp on technical stuff. Like how stuff works, and what factors really drive some obscure, difficult to comprehend process (as long as it's something that tickles their synapses, like say audio). In other words, they're good at solving puzzles, wherever they may lie.

So that's not it. If we're talking sealioning "objectivists" (or associated ilk), Dunning–Kruger is a much safer bet:
See if you can spot "illusory superiority" in GUTB's latest missives...

We won't have as much content heading into the meet. The Focal stuff is out. Many of us have heard the FLOWs. Schiit released Jot. A few other things we got in like the Etys, etc.

This why GUTB hasn't been banned. We will need entertainment for the next few weeks or so.

Am I not allowed to have an opnion on things I don't have an engineering-level knowledge about? Must I pick at every single not?

For example, I only have a broad-level knowedge of how D/A conversion works, but what I do know suggests the Vega does not do native DSD because it oversamples to 1.5 Mhz while 1xDSD is 2.8 Mhz which leads me to believe a DSD stream needs to be decimated / down-sampled which will result in a loss of quality because 1-bit streams can't be repaired once broken down. Likewise the little mobile Mojo uses a custom D/A that I thought I read somewhere isn't native DSD capable. The DS Jr should be native DSD capable -- but I've heard very mixed reviews on the DS line which is what ultimately made me shy away from them.

But I know what I heard listening to a Channel Classics track through my X20 and Ragnarok HE-6: the most real voices and sounds I've ever heard come out of a computer. Maybe to someone with a 10k vinyl setup that's nothing special. Maybe someone with an Analog DAC listens the better every day. I don't know of course. I do doubt the experience of someone who has some guy's ass as an avatar though.

You are not allowed to have an opinion because you are misinformed and/or arrive at erroneous conclusions because of your ignorance and blind insistence of defending gear that you own. For example:

As you state yourself, you only have broad knowledge. The Vega only oversamples PCM to 1.536MHz at 32 bits before conversion to DSD. It handles DSD64 and DSD128 natively.

Why do you call out folks like @Torq of having suspect DSD knowledge when you are the one with suspect knowledge? If you admit that your knowledge is only broad, then perhaps you should not say anything if you don't know what you are talking instead of making stuff up.

Your gear isn't good enough. I relegated the Rag to home theater because it wasn't good enough for true hi-fi. Your DAC is cheap mass produced Chinese with simplistic power supply (not enough caps, not enough chokes, not enough heat). You haven't heard enough good gear to be allowed to say that.

Yes, but it still remains true that your system sounds fake, boring and lifeless because it is not expensive enough, especially your DAC. If you have $5000 headphones, you should have $5000+ amp and $10,000+ source.

Man. You don't need an engineering degree to read specs. Come on man. Most chips out there that handle PCM and DSD natively do so through separate paths. Indeed the 1.5 MHz applies only to PCM. Decimating or interpolating a 1-bit DSD stream makes little sense to me.

I think you are not aware of it, but some of your claims, both about perceived performance and technical aspects, are a bit off the mark. And the spin you put on those statements is not even annoying anymore. It's funny. Which sometimes makes me feel a bit like an asshole. Which I am sometimes I guess. But it's hard not to be one, when confronted with arrogance.
