NY Mini Meet, July 17

Hey all. The room at my co-op is already booked on 7/17. I'm looking into some other options in the neighborhood for that day and will post here by the end of the week when I'll have more info.

 

I'll check the two places in Manhattan that kunlun mentioned to me during the last meet

 

I contacted TRS and they gave me a quote: For a room that fits about 20 people and 2 large tables, it'll be $30/hr. The smallest room available fits about 10 people but it probably won't be enough space since we need tables and chairs. Assuming we rent the room for 6 hours, it'll be $180. We would have to pay a 50% deposit (full refund before 3 weeks, no refund between 1-3 weeks) and then 50% the day of the meet.

What do you guys think? Parking will probably be annoying in Manhattan, but at least it's a sunday. Here's the link to their website.

There's an alternate space I found in Jackson Heights for 7/17 at a church near my apartment, but it would cost us $400 for six hours, which is more than I think we're all prepared to spend.

If we wanted to shift the date to Saturday 7/16 or Sunday 7/10, we could get my co-op's party room. But if we're set on 7/17, then we'd need to go with the gunner's option or something that someone else can suggest.

 

I wouldn't mind doing 7/16 if others are okay with it as well.

 

I would have to come in the afternoon on 7/16 as I work till 12 on saturdays.

 

If we don't have an alternate location by this Wednesday, I'll make the reservation for TRS on the 17th.

 

Does everyone live out in queens/bronx/brooklyn? I have company space in NYC 24st that could probably be used for no cost if it's more convient.

It's located on 24th & 6th, so it's nearby public transit and both sides of the river, it's a open work space with plenty of room that we can setup rigs. There are plenty of places in the area we can get food from delievered and I can provide beverages.

Okay guys, @SteelCannon has offered to host the meet at his house. It's in Queens. He can fit 2-3 cars in his house, so first come first served. There should be street parking around though, and his location is accessible by public transportation. I'll PM you guys the address a week before the meet.

I'm thinking we start at about 12 or 1 like last time and then conclude it whenever we've finished with everything. Maybe we can get some dinner around the area when we've packed up.

For now, could you guys list what you plan to bring to the meet? @Josh thank you for your offer as well.

 

Just wanted to check: Can I get a confirmation if you guys will be able to make it on the 17th? It's coming up pretty soon and I'd like to see what you guys are planning to bring.
