The funniest thing is that preliminary results are showing that Trump is down with white males and is up with white females, blacks, Latinos, and Other. Trump is showing the GOP how to win in the 21st century.

Republicans still haven't figured out that immigrants and non-native POC generally have conservative leanings. The media has labeled Republicans as the party of white supremacy but most non-West European immigrants I know tend to have largely conservative values down the board. They vote Dem because Republicans have no sense of how to manage their brand or communications.

Question is will the GOP take the Trump playbook after he is done? I'm not fully convinced.

I don't really care that much if Trump or Biden wins w/ regards to most things (I dislike both and didn't vote for either) and do genuinely believe that in most cases for most people who the president is doesn't really matter - but if we are to believe that people vote in blocks per gender, skin color, age, etc... I am legitimately curious as to why he would be down with I imagine his biggest bloc (white males) and up with everyone else.

On a different note I sure hope the GOP doesn't model Trump for the rest of the 21st century... If we are going to be stuck with a 2 party system, I want both sides to at least be legitimate challengers to each other that both get stuff done (at least at an Apple vs Android level) and not just Dems saying "vote for me b/c GOP has bad manners".

The GOP, which at its core is a slightly less progressive version of the Dem's (i.e. it is a "moderate" progressive party) has as much of a chance of learning from Trump as the Dem's and the media learning that the center and contours of the political geography is not whatever the NYT says it is. I am off to bed...

Back to post on a real computer. I hanged out enough with a lot first gen Cubans who are based in Miami, they have a bias against darker skin folks to the post they don't mind saying the N word freely. I really think the FL Dem Party needs a reset since their decisions over the last few years keep screwing them over. If they don't know any better, Miami-Dale won't be the backup plan they envision for the last few decades. However, if the National Party goes more left, consider not having FL voting Dem again for awhile. They need to get back to what they were famous for: Real GOTV, community engagement, and actually being legit.

To @crenca's post, I agree. Remember: Trump is not a politician, that isn't his trade. He has swag to get rappers to vote for him. Rest of the popular GOP folks are career politicians, you think rappers wanna hang around with those guys who aren't cool (not talking about the Dems)? No way. People vote always for the person and less so about the political party.

Also, things goes in cycles. People got bored of the Clinton Years, the W Bush Years, the Obama Years, and sooner or later they will get bored with the Trump years. Presidential stuff is like a fad, nothing last forever. People will get bored of the NYC no filter talk of Trump. I lived on this planet for 31 years, and I seen stuff come and go.

Hopefully with Trump winning again this would get rid of the New Democrats once and for all (Harry Reid, Biden, Obama, Clinton, etc.) and for those in the Dem party who know what they are doing (who knows, maybe they do) can finally come out. However, they should be taking some serious notes on how Trump won in the first place thou. Rust Belt is no longer a strong D column anymore, but it appears AZ will be joining the D column.

For those on the Dem side, 2022 should be another Dem revolt (but most likely will fail in FL again due to Desantis isn't doing too bad and Rubio will lock up the Spanish vote regardless of he is a R).

Twitter is now locking Trump's tweets!. This is outrageous.
Social media sites need to be regulated.

Had Trump locked his own tweets years ago, this would have been a landslide. He's his own worst enemy.

You're fucked, bro. You live in a place where the zoning laws + NIMBY attitudes are so fucked that the cost of living is insane. The government is playing catchup from 30 years ago and the people making less than 250k/year per household have no other recourse than to vote in measures that increase the cost of living in the hopes of funding services to balance the scales.

Blame your fucked neighbors who are afraid of high density housing and protectionist local government bullshit.

I actually care far less about who wins what (and it has been this way since the first time I voted in a general election-1980) than I do about both houses of congress and the presidency being in the hands of two different parties. Legislative gridlock is always the best that I can hope for. Everytime they threaten to "shut down the government" because they can't agree on a f'ing budget, I am in the back row smoking a doobie and cheering at the top of my lungs.

My takeaways so far as a non-libertarian conservative:

    1) Even with Covid, Trump's controversial personality, revolutionary mobs, and the full institutional weight of the media, Hollywood, university admin/professors, HR dept's and corp. board rooms behind a hoped for shift leftward, it did not happen. The country is divided 50/50 just like it was the last election, the one before that - going back to at least Bush vs. Gore.

    2) With the Senate held and what I think will be a shrinking (maybe by 5 seats) of the Dem majority in the house, I am even willing to say that the election was a conservative victory, though it's easy to overstate this.

    3) Will the Dem's and the institutions they own (i.e. media, etc.) learn that most of the country is in fact well to the right of the NYT? NO FLIPPIN WAY, they will double down on intolerant wokeness and ever bigger government. At least the so called "New Democrat's" are fading and/or dying off.

    4) Will the Repub's learn (from Trump and results) that people respect and expect a vigorous and confident repudiation of wokeness, revolution, disorder, and ever bigger government? NO FLIPPIN WAY, they will double down on a cuckold relationship with the elite left institutions (such as the media) and a shallow libertarian election strategy. At least the Bush era "neoconservatives" are fading and/or dying off.

I love the idea, but California has already taxed everybody and tried to build high speed rail from SoCal to Norcal, but failed after spending $20B. It's less liberal vs conservative IMO, but rather if the state can execute or has a record of executing.

Right now, I'm more concerned if California will have enough surplus energy generation in the upcoming summers since so much of our electricity generation is via solar and other renewables. We don't have enough gas, nuclear, or coal plants when everybody's AC is still running from 4pm to 9pm (when the sun don't shine) during a heat wave. We already saw a glimpse this prior summer of what may happen in the future.

The incompetence and waste are rampant.

I'd be all behind United Federation of Planets if we had the likes of Jean-Luc Picard and Spock as our leaders. Instead, our leaders are more like Ferengi. I did live in Canada you know. I'll pay socialist taxes if we can have stuff that works.

Like for you. I'd pay more taxes for better f'ing infrastructure in general but the problem is these bids go to approved vendors who are incentivized to rack up the charges and drag their feet.

I think and hope this is a joke. Twitter is like the only big tech company who is doing good work keeping the rampant bullshit sort of in check.

Those with liberal leanings like this non-US SJW here are all in a bit of a funk I guess from how things are the world over nowadays, it gets tiring when you stress over every single iota of dishonesty published by a former-showgirl-turned-misinformation-dispenser. While I've grown more centrist in recent years cuz I've seen a lot of the toxicity in far-left politics close to my own circles (it can be as bad as far-right idiocies IMO— everything in moderation) I still think American Republicanism is largely toxic in its current incarnation and I'm almost grateful for how Philippine politics are so overtly, grossly corrupted because it's less stressful than what y'all have to deal with.

To be honest the only reason I follow this thread is cuz I know there's a right leaning among many regulars and I appreciate that for how it keeps me from getting tunnel vision given my predispositions. I don't agree with a lot of the shit people on here I respect say, but that doesn't mean everything is worth dismissing out of hand— people build properties where there's already an established history of wildfires running rampant, okay that's silly but that doesn't mean anthropogenic climate change isn't real, for the love of Jehovah; guns don't kill people but they make it a hell of a lot easier, BUT I can appreciate how they are enjoyable as a hobby— I'd like to head to a firing range when the virus comes under control; how the f**k can you be anti-abortion when that means victims of rape might be made to give birth or families in a third world country that already have way too many mouths to feed come to view their progeny as motherfucking investments, making it so they're raised solely as a means to earn finances for you to depend on in your dotage and thereby chaining them to the roots you've laid down, denying them the opportunity to live on their own terms and find meaning in why they live.

Also people can dress however they want and f**k whomever they want as long as there's consent*— God doesn't hate cigarettes**.

*wearing provocative clothing does not constitute express consent
    **what's another word for cigarette?
