there's always a slight edginess around vocals and proneness to sibilance is greater than the HD 600 but definitely not something to worry about. Definitely over the border for 650 lovers though.
With the headphone being at the price point it's at and with many Mfgs going with lower impedance headphones, how would you rate it compared to other headphones at the price point? I feel like the HD650s are an outlier as you don't see many people at this price bracket buying a 300ohm amp but will buy something like a Magnius.
The only real alternative out of the X2's, DT 990's, K612/K712'S, Soundmagic's etc. would only be the SONY MA900. Since that one is really hard to get by now I think the 560S is in a very good position.
MA900 still gets the nod for its unique staging, for less offensive treble (still find it to have a very slight metallicness) but extension and detail retrieval are more 560's game.
However thanks to the treble the detail retrieval also means that there's tiny pellets of shit around what you actually want to have.
The Liquid Crimson helped with the Philips Holland E88CC tubes, contrary to the HPA-1 from Pass Labs which is more linear and less soft. Not a good pairing with the 560S.
Marv still has the Vali I think and I think it's also best to wait for him to tear it all down as I am sure he has ideas for mods.
And then of course Evan Schaaf will join in, pulverize the headphone by throwing magic bombs, while cursing and singing and build something new out of all the atoms.
