Sorry to hear that. I know the feeling, years ago diagnosed with arthritis of the neck and was told by the dim wit doc here take these NSAIDs for the rest of your life. I worked on posture and bought a new chair, no pills were necessary. Still have stiffness but neck pain is low.
I had wrist and shoulder issues when I was working as a software engineer. I'm glad to be done with that. The mouse did as much to advance computer use as it did to make computer use harmful to humans.
This would be much easier handled if I could have NSAIDs. But they are contraindicated due to cardiac meds. Rest, minimizing computer workstation work for now, myofascial release, new chair and basically toughing it while waiting out the typical 3 weeks healing. Chiropractor is limited in what he can do for soft tissue issues.
And FYI, NSAIDs are a big no no when it comes to use prior to getting Covid shot or afterwards. You want the body to see any inflammation to setup the target response, so no NSAIDs even for the slight arm pain of needle jab.
My solution to ergonomic problems was to switch to using the angled and tilted keyboards. Like the various Microsoft Natural keyboard designs and now the Kinesis Freestyle 2 split keyboard with the VIP 3 wrist pad and tilt attachments. And for mouse use switching to the Logitech thumb style trackballs. I'll use a traditional ergonomic mouse only when I need precision for photo editing and such.
Also I go for a monthly massage. The chiro keeps my back+neck aligned, the massage therapist in between releases the muscles.
I write software, so sit in front of a computer all day too. I have a sit/stand desk, and an appropriate setup, but lately I've just been using the laptop screen (vs the big one), and it isn't at proper height.
@Syzygy using the laptop screen with my chair at an improper position while finishing the dac2541 measurements and then the time spent posting is what stimulated my rhomboid spasm / inflammation.
@Biodegraded the problem is that I found what I love doing in life. If I gave that up I might die of simple boredom. This is just another pothole in the great road of life.
My recipe for many hours spent, daily, in front of computer, is to slouch with my feet up. "worst" possible posture. Seems to work for me, but hey, I've been wrong before.
