Update: booked another Grab home and the co-passenger (helps subsidize cost) was a high school friend of mine! We talked about life after graduation and hobbies (mostly me geeking out over pens and audio). He worked in real estate, might get into marketing research which was my schtick, so I said he could hit me up for a consultancy if ever XD
I filled out an application form at 10 AM and at around 3 PM the same day I had two middle school girls (9 or 10 years old?) in the back of my SUV. Very strange to me that that's the world we live in.
@BillOhio Dang, turnaround time was that quick? I'd have thought there'd be a more rigorous screening process given how dangerous these days can be.
And well, yeah, it's a convenient service, so I can see parents letting their kids use it in lieu of a school service or cab. Cabs here in the Philippines aren't spectacular.
Supposedly they had done a background check but how do you do a background check in the U.S. in 5 hours that accounts for my just getting back in to the country from Canada? ... very sketchy.
Wow, that explains a lot @BillOhio @Lyer25 the taxi drivers OTOH will talk your ear off but they drive like bats out of hell. Typically Didi Select or premier drivers are a smooth ride.
