I've sold stuff for friends a few times (one dude in particular, he's generous with finder's fees, haha), but yeah, ideally you deal directly with the person actually sending you the item instead of its owner in cases like that. Red flags abound :|
If there's any doubt at all, you'd be right to wash your hands clean of this. Definitely reeks, so even if they're legit you can't be blamed for exercising caution
Today I asked him to delay until he's back in town. He got back and said the friend is a trusted audio guy too which made me feel a lot better. At this point it's wait, see, pray lol!
