Kind of muddy down low. Maybe too much body and lacks extension at the extremes. Its all about component synergy. I wouldn't call any headphone used to assess DAC tonality near as neutral as my JBL 4698b, and even these JBLs are not perfect.
Compare it to a Dangerous or Lynx or RME or whatever product and Lavry is warm as hell dude. The upper mids and high end rule. I like the AD even better as it has the saturation function that sounds so cool. I want to AB Lavry to Prism DA eventually for smooth yet accurate pro boxes.
It’s plenty bright for me. I do agree the uppers are accurate. Sharp as a tack without being fake or grating like the not-to-be-named DAC I ranted about a week ago. Adagio is back in the system right now as I’m trying to sort out the effect of Eitr.
Some of you may have noticed I have made no further mention of the Hugo TT. It came and went. Lasted about 6 minutes before a I couldn’t cope. But I never did try it from Eitr; only built-in USB. So if I’m missing out somebody should tell me and I’ll get it back.
If it's not TT2, never bother. Applies to every pre-dave things imo. Chord started to get things (relatively) right since dave. In terms of only SQ, I prefer qutest -- presumably slightly improved hugo 2 -- to og TT. It's at least $700-900 good (not 1.9k good) to my ears.
