    You might be lucky in running an older or different version right now. I hope Firefox fixes this issue. The extra extensions gave them the edge compared to Chrome...

    Mine just went tits up, i am on the latest version. You can disable certificate verification if you're on a dev build or certain linux versions. xpinstall.signatures.required to false in about:config works for me.

    Pale Moon... Looks and feels like Firefox used to do when it was a good browser that didn't just want to be Chrome. It supports the old extensions infrastructure too. Can't say, though, how many developers might not think it worthwhile to support us ff fork users.
