I’m curious about the Stellaris compared to the Starlett, and didn’t want to add noise to the DNA thread.

The Stellaris and Studio Jr are in another class compared to Starlett. Starlett is good, but just isn't on that level.

Of course, getting to that level means big $$$$$$

I agree with Chacha. Will also say after hearing all 3 they are about 98% similar in sound that isn't just "more $ = more gooder". Starlett (based on limited listening) is probably the most even handed, Stratus (based on a 2 week loaner) is a little more easy listening, soft, and bloomy... [cont]

... Stellaris (~1 year of ownership) almost but never actually has a tiny bit of edge with some tubes and with many songs almost "pulls the song apart at the seams" - like the song can't handle the amp (overly subjective mumbo jumbo - I know). However, both of these are in a good way and these both contribute to the magic of the Stellaris sound for me.

@fp627 thanks for the impressions. Do you ever use the Stellaris with planars?

No. I don't think it synergizes well with any of them other than Verum, which after what happened, I won't be buying anymore. Note that I'm not saying it's all bad or won't work, just that there was no synergy.

    Good synergy - Verum
    No/neutral synergy - MrS/DCA Ether and Aeon, newer HFM (soft-fi-man stuff), RAD-0
Bad synergy, probably due to not enough current - Audeze, older HFM

    Haven't tried Meze Empyrean.

Note that Verum and RAD-0 were only in meet conditions. Newer HFM was briefly borrowed. Ether was EFO1.1 and the Aeon was a shorter listen.

In short, there are other amps out there for less $ (maybe way less), easier tubes or just SS, etc. if you want to use planars.
