Are you getting loving that wood timbre and slow decay? The ones I've heard are captivating with live acoustic music or studio music recorded with room ambience. This I imagine would sound great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5cELP06Mik
I'll get back to you on this one @Stuff Jones. I'm burning in the drivers since they were stiff sounding when I first put them on. Getting the drivers moving is making them less stiff.
@zerodeefex actually it isn't bad IMO, provided if you pair it right.
The wood really gives the timbre that I wanted to hear, which I think it is different in the IEM word. I really enjoy it with a Vali 2+, and the warmness being toned down helped a lot not being suffocated. However, for $449 it isn't competitive in the IEM world....
....and the tuning isn't for everyone. However, if you are into IEMs and you know what you are doing, FWX1 is not a warmness suffocated mess that has the JVC wood timbre, which it turns out that I like. I came in with low expectations and I came out saying "actually this isn't complete shit."
@Stuff Jones: last year, I sent them detailed measurements and comments on how the FW1800 could be re-tuned to sound closer to the FDX1, while leaving the nice wood timbre intact:
@james444, I reviewed your screencap. With my ears, the subbass/midbass is more than a FDX1 Green Filter that is on my desk (I still found FDX1 to have leaner bass). However, subbass/midbass isn't even close to a stock FX1800 if going by the graph.....
....I hate ultra boosted bass IEMs that is overbearing, and the FWX1 to me isn't even close to that limit. However, FWX1 is downward sloping starting at around 4k/5k (not what you wish for), but can get the shout like the FDX1 if you push the vol control HARD. It's an acquired taste, which is something I'll be referencing since the wood timbre benefits are here.
