Been selling on Amazon for 149-199 bucks, its definitely a contender at that price. Not as detailed as DT880 600 ohm but more enjoyable for me personally. Very well done soundstage, vocals slightly withdrawn due to 2.3k-to 3k dip but quite pleasant to listen too once the big ass suspiciously Beyer like treble peak is EQed out.

X2HR was one of my easiest recommendation for non-audiophile pals (sweetspot between price, comfort, looks, and performance). Maybe it's time to move on to x3. Tempted to try out.

I still use a DT880 600 ohm edition as my personal baseline. It's the first serious headphone I bought almost twenty years ago. I don't need another headphone, but I bet the Fidelio X3 might also scale well.

I think the average non-audiophile would actually prefer the X2 because its got the bigger bass oomph that consumers like. Most people just want DAT BASS. X3s bass drops off much earlier, not as well extended. The DT880 even beats it quite handily in Bass extension. But X3 has some fantastic mids/upper mids, that I really enjoy, sounds a LOT like the porta pro in mids but with better detail and nuance.

I am curious as to how it would scale, my impression is that it will never reach DT880 600ohm or 650 levels, it certainly sounds better off my Erish 2 than the Creative G6, but I dont know if it will get much better. Main issue it will have with high end amps is that 30 ohm impedance will prevent synergy with high end tube amps. Wish they had a higher impedance, they were targeting audiophiles with this kind of sound

At least with Amps and Sound, the newer amps have at least a low Z and high Z. My Kenzie Ovation has 5 taps from 8 ohms to 300 ohms.
