It’s warmer than Jot 1 without the piercing treble, and the soundstage has so much more width and depth. I miss it.

I don't think I'll ever sell mine. It's a solid jack-of-all trades and worth keeping around as a backup. I find it too aggressive with most headphones, and can only tolerate headphones on low gain for extended periods.

What DAC are you pairing with it? Your Yggdrasil?

@zonto Yggdrasil a2 yep. Aggressive , really? In what way exactly? I’m totally not getting that on either the Elex or HD650. I’m hearing what @Merrick describes which is warmth and non-fatiguing (almost tame) highs.

What gain setting are you using?

I would never classify the Ragnarok 1.5 as having tame highs. It has more warmth than the v.1 boards did for sure, but in comparisons with other amps it's always on the bright/neutral side of things comparatively. I use Yggdrasil Analog 2 as well and leave my Ragnarok on all the time.

I can't stand anything but low gain using Focal Utopia. With HD600, the amp just isn't a good match (shoutiness in the midrange emphasized). Best match I've found was the JAR HD650 when I had that loaner in. I usually try to cap average listening level between 70-75 dB, with peaks above that of course, using NIOSH iPhone app. Not really a high volume listener.

Rag 1.5 is almost too much amp for 600/650, although it is nicer with 650’s. Such a polite (but not laid back) and effortless amp. On speakers in high gain is the best.

Have you guys tried Freya with Rag? Just tried hooking my Freya+ up between the Yggdrasil and Rag for Schiits and giggles (maxed the volume on the Rag on low gain) and it might be giving me exactly what I’m looking for…need more time though.
