That's just a physical splitter right, like bifrost didn't like driving whatever was on the other end in parallel? Or are you saying it sounds better with some other generic rca splitter?

@Wobbletits Yep, just a physical hardwire splitter. It sounded better with the RCA plugged directly into the BF2 forgoing the splitter.

So even just the splitter (+rca cables) in between just the Bifrost & BF2 with no 2nd device sounded compressed?

@Wobbletits I had a second device too, a sw51+ and a bhc connectd to the RCA spliter.

I guess maybe it doesn't operate optimally with the 2 devices in parallel.

TBH I have very little experience using these kinds of splitters for splitting a dac to multiple amps, I've only really used them in like signal gen -> scope probe/amp input kind of situations. Even a passive probe at 10Mohm/10pf affects the signal a little bit...

I would have thought it was okay most of the time though.

Depends on what the Bifrost is driving. If the loads on the amps (or pots) are low impedance, then output stage of Bifrost can struggle.

I've done exactly the same with SW51 and Night Blues Mini (basically ZDT Jr.). Couldn't hear any difference compared to 1:1 connection.
forum.bottlehead.com says BHC has an 100k input Z. Can't seem to find same for SW51.

@gixxerwimp Hmm, I can retest.. Maybe it was having both amps on at the same time which caused problems.

I think even with the amp on the pot is still in the circuit. I usually use a SYS now for signal splitting for this reason.

@Azimuth Yea true. Ok. I might get a device like this then. I really do hear a percieved loss of dynamic range when spitting.

My dynamic range when spitting is only about 8 ft.

Output device has a fan-out drive limitation. The two amps may have different input impedances which combined causes some issues with the output device.
