This would be driving my 2-way Altecs (12" woofer + horn). Currently using a 300b and noticing the midrange could be improved compared to @Erroneous headphone rig I heard in TX.

maybe the midrange difference is that speakers need a cross over?

I think @famish99 runs something similar with his BK16 setup. Maybe he'd have some input.

Pocomo, is it a 417 + 80X?

You should audition it if you can. Finemet transformers have a very peculiar sound for very peculiar japanese market. Two-stage with 6N7 you will want an active pre-amp with gain. Finally in my experience 45 tube is not for speakers with crossovers more complicated than a single capacitor. ymmv

I agree that a 45 shouldn’t be used for any speaker with a complex crossover, it’ll sound especially wimpy.

You guys have convinced me that a 45 is no bueno for me, and I thank you for the time saved :)
