On the other hand, to the subjecti-pseuds, human ears are the finest listening/measuring tools in the universe, and are not even basically understood by science so "measurement" of what they "hear" is futile.

But, to topic... @Senorx12562, absolutely. How amazingly lucky are those of, say, 80-plus, who still hear most of the useful-to-music audio spectrum! I am so envious!

Kind of encourages stepping the rest of the way off the gear cycling merry-go-round, most of the way there already anyway.

That’s often the problem: When you’re old enough to be able to afford the TOTL stuff, you can’t fully appreciate it anymore.

There's the story of the guy who sets out to find a vintage copy of the turntable he most wanted, but couldn't afford, in his youth. He finds one and... still can't afford it.

@zottel, you misunderstand, I still can't afford TOTL, or even TOTL adjacent, but my hearing has regressed to match my budget.
