I need to ditch my bulky desktop rig for something simple and compact. My 2yo son gets into everything and I want something I can easily pack up in a case and stow away between listening sessions. Just curious what’s out there now. I was going to get the RME ADI-2 Dac but apparently the headphone output is kinda trash so the hunt continues.

I have been measuring and evaluating iFi iDSD Diablo for some time now. If I were in the market for an AIO it would be on my short list.

I’m curious about the new Neo iDSD 2. IFI says it’s got the Diablo’s amp topology. Keeping my fingers crossed that it has some SQ improvements over the portable Diablo.

Could you try a DAP? Jot 2 with ESS is a good option but it needs to be on 24/7 to sound good when you need it.

Asgard 3 doesn't need to be left on like the Jot 2 and also has the option of either a DS DAC or a multibit DAC, both with Unison.

I would say the best aio is the Soekris 2541. It’s even better than the ifi idsd pro, so I think it’s safe to assume is better than the Neo and the idsd Diablo

@Cellist88 I previously had a Soekris 1541 and I thought the amp section was kinda weak. Is it any better on the 2541?

Yea maybe Asgard 3 with ESS DAC then. I'm not sure if that smaller multibit card has warmup time. I sort of like Schiit all in ones because you get just the basics. All of the Ifi stuff etc has things I'll never need like bluetooth and wifi.
