It's timbre - esp in the mids. They're subtly betterer. I may be biased as I use the 12AWG Duelund DCA wire in my main 2CH system with Harbeths which are all 'bout the mids. I thought I was tuning the ZMF system synergy towards my HD600s, but perhaps I am aiming Harbeth. Anyways...the DCAs a very fine fit in the 2CH system and with the ZMFs.
I hate that cables make a difference. Beforehand I always subscribed to the thought that it was all snake oil until I tried a silver plated cable for my HD600.
@ChaChaRealSmooth , totally. I was surprised at how big a difference it made in my 2CH system. I think it's more subtle with headphones, but I also think it contributes to "system synergy". If you can, try the Duelund. It's a surprise.
Ugh, don't remind me with the 2ch. I spent too long finagling cables to help dial it in and tbh it still could be better but right now I can't be bothered.
You're absolutely right though. The cables and interconnects can absolutely dial in the last couple percent to really tune your system to your preferences
Tinned copper marine cable works for a Duelund DCA type of sound on the cheap. It's sharper, but in some use cases that can be a advantage. It's what I used for my HD600.
So a good 100+hrs in and this cable is, by a long shot, my favourite. Imaging is excellent, it extends very well, and that timbre! I did this cable up on a lark - glad I did. I'll do a comparo when I have a moment.
