Their lockdown and AIfication of android has me thinking my next phone will be something else...

Ironically a Pixel with Grapheneos seems tot be the only sane choice unless you trust Apple to not surprise you with dicpics from a previous life again...

I won't touch Apple. Stuck with android, for better or worse. And google shows no sign of 'better.'

Fire up Fing or the like and see that Google will no longer let you see MAC address on your own network for "security". Whose security? Not mine.

Their search has been heavily politicized for a while now, their browser is just an ad machine now. Apple gives me all this true, but they also give me a better UI and better gear so why not?

What we really need is what retread of what Android used to be before Google bought it, but the barrier to entry is too $high$ now...

Hardly blame people for adblock nowadays with how bad ads are getting. Trying to view recipe websites on my phone is probably 75% of the time spent closing the ads.
