This is how the game is played *everywhere*. Get an offer and make them beat it and if not walk. Trust me, I took on a 2-year project and delivered it and my promotion required one more signature and the last guy said no. My boss had a pay-raise and promotion verbally promised by a date and they didn't deliver. There's still a lot of people scared if we'd leave. Outside offers are the only way to call bluffs
Sounds like hospitality. Would it be a correct guess that the manager also laid blame instead of asking questions and ignored everything they were told only to reach conclusions without that information?
Also point out the strange irony that it's harder to get people you know to give you anything at a company rather than move to another and get a better offer from strangers
They asked me back last year. I talked about a goal. We agreed and they ignored me most of the time. This month I had enough and this week I get offered what I worked for. I am leaving in 10-24 or 11-24. I did not work extra for a broken promise or whispers.
