Needed a couple classics to add to my jazz collection.

Found this beauty in great condition a week ago at a vinyl shop for $7. My new table came today finally (had to get it replaced, cartridge or arm was a bit noisy), and finally popped this in. Oh lawd, amazing!

Dropped by a local record shop today after work to stock up before my TT comes in next week and found some goodies!

Just a U-Turn Orbit for now to feel out the hobby. Might move onto a VPI or Clearaudio if it warms up to me.

Good shit. I just got an Orbit too, just to get my feet wet. Let me tell you, Aja will blow your mind.

Its here. It sounds great. Impressed with whole package (artwork, sleeves, 180g records)- its almost like they cared about the vinyl release and put the extra effort to make it worth the effort over a digital purchase. Wish more modern bands would do this...

I was debating on getting a copy in the store yesterday. How does it sound compared to the digital version? More dynamic I'm guessing?

I did think it had greater dynamics, less flat, which bands like Radiohead benefit greatly as they have subtle quiet parts, and faster louder parts. I also hear more background details and the weird little quirks that they put in there. This may just be because my record setup is more resolving or whatever digital version I have isn't ideal.

Sadly, there are lots of issues with pressings for people. I ordered a UK one that will show up today. I hope it's better than my limited edition white one that wasn't too bad, but wasn't silent.

Pretty bummed about this one, snagged A Moon Shaped Pool on white vinyl only to get a crummy pressing. Sold it at a loss and then scooped up the CD of all things, it sounds like compressed hot garbage. I give up.

Found this on clearance at a Hot Topic out of all places. One of my favorite soundtracks, and damn, it sounds freaking amazing. Also grabbed Dark Knight Rises which I'll listen to soon.

You should be able to return a bad sounding pressing to the store for a new one. It's built into the store's deal with their distributor.

Yeah, the digital is overly compressed and it makes me sad.

Curious about Moon Shaped Pool. Is it widely considered not very good, or do the pressings vary? I still have trouble discerning decent rock records from crap ones. Jazz is much easier for me as I have a baseline of what is considered great.
