Diablo 4 Discussion

Definitely down to start a SBAF clan. Level 71 Hammer of Ages Barbarian and having a blast. It's definitely different from D2 (played D3 but launch was so bad and I got my account hacked so I gave up) but that's not a bad thing. Few things I wish they had implemented: Runes/Runewords, gem pouch, 7 skill slots for more build diversity, one more node of skills, a bigger world (separate world like Hell) and a few other small things. The rest of the game is very polished. Paragon tree does spike your power and some of those uniques (like an armor set that give you tons of thorn) can lead to some ridiculous builds.

 

I'm a lvl43 rogue (barrage+ice/poison). Tried necro and barb until lvl12 and rogue seems the most skill based. I'm overall pretty floored how well the game is made. And it runs like greased lightning.

 

Having a blast with my druid, playing a landfall build and it murders everything. Still working my way through the story but really enjoying it so far.

 

One thing I enjoy a lot is how down-to-earth and bleak the art style is. I hated the WOW inspired D3.

 

Lvl53 Necro just winging it solo. Pretty fun played d3 for a few months after launch but never touched it again. Like the level design and sound big-time.

 

Also Twisting Blades rogue here, level 30 currently.

I'm ambiguous about the game. I was strongly in favor of the 'moar dark less WoW' aesthetic but they have perfected the feel that you're in a gothic horror film maybe too well for me. I thought I would be OK with all the swedishdeathmetalsgoatbloodsacrifice shit, but I'm weirdly unable to psychologically distance myself from the entire experience (at least so far). Maybe #triggered? It's very frustrating because I want to play but I get the same anxiety I get from horror movies like the Exorcist, but unlike a 2 hour movie it's going indefinitely. I remember after playing Diablo 3 at a clip for hours I'd get this odd persistence thing where the game's interface would be burned in my mental retinas, but with D4 there's an intrusive thing going on. Games rarely produce bad dreams but this has managed to do that. Yet...I want to play. Halp.

 

I still have a 4770k build from 2013 with a 980gtx I think ? Playing on PS5

 

Level 72 Necro here, been running bone spear build/sacrificed all minions. Its kinda funny, I picked necro since I wanted to play a minion build. But after a bunch of respecs, can confidently say minion builds suck. They take so many resources to be even a little worth, they die so fast and don't do enough damage. Slots used for minions would be better spent on other skills/abilities.

Tried bone spirit build but it was taking too much setup time and fully depleting my essence was annoying since I get one big burst of damage and then be running around to try to get back essence. Some nice uniques around corpse explosion helped but overall it was a pretty slow playstyle.

Tried a blood surge build after I got an amulet unique that casts blood surge on skeletons, discovered a few other legendary that may have helped the build with some existing uniques I had but man did it hit like a limp noodle.

Bone spear is pretty consistent of low setup, high crit focus burst but at the same time still sustainable even with bit high essence use.

Overall its been fun minus the grindy parts like finding all the Altars of Lilith but thank god I don't have to do that again. Biggest headache for me so far has been the lag/rubber banding. Lost count of a rubber banding when doing a helltide for example happening and I die right as I was about to cash out cinders.

Campaign was pretty cool, Inarius was a pathetic character so it was fun seeing him getting what he deserved. Ending kinda felt little empty but guess they will expand it with new expansions.

 

Playing a lvl 48 AOE druid build due to some early legendary drops I got, fun and bursty damage. Tried a werebear build early and it was kind of a pain in the butt. Might try again with better gear.

Just finished the campaign! Really enjoyed it, looking forward to the expansions.
Changed my build to a werebear one because I got a bunch of levendaries for it. So many options to build your character i love it!

 

How actively grindy is this game? Will I be continuously behind if I only have a couple hours a week to actively play? I kind of miss playing with other people that I "know."
