    Yeah that looks pretty good to me. The only things to add would be a weight for the disk, and maybe a weight on top of the TT to really ensure it couples to the stand firmly.

    I used some leftover travertine. It... does something for the sound.
    More solid sounding somehow. Less lean in a way. Background is if anything slightly blacker. That's pretty much it.

    Now this is a lightweight and thin stone, but I don't think I'll get a thicker and heavier one. It does the job without looking ridiculous.

    Well at Daiso got 2 slabs and some cork.
    the slabs have some feet on them.
    some pseudo composite layer dampening of my very own plinth.

    The second stand has benefited from the many mistakes of the first and being not my first attempt at TIG. But both will be fine after grinding some ugly welds on stand #1 and painting.

    They're open at the top of each leg with pre-fab plastic caps that will finish it off after filling with some sort of mass damping material. The bottom plates of each leg will be drilled and tapped for threaded teflon glider feet to allow height adjustment and easy positioning. Got a big old roll of 2x1/2" sorbothane for the top platform to go between speaker and steel.
