Canceled gigs etc no revenue. Keeping the creative musical community intact is so important not just for the health and livelihood of musicians around the world but also for the future of vibrant musical communities that foster creative music that we love.

Here’s a link to a great way to help.

    https://covid19musicrelief.byspotify.com/en-us

    From Spotify’s website:

“Today we launched the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief project, which recommends verified organizations that offer financial relief to those in the music community most in need around the world. Currently, we're partnering with MusiCares, PRS Foundation, Help Musicians, Unison Benevolent Fund, and Centre National de la Musique, and are looking forward to adding more partners worldwide. Spotify is making a donation to these organizations and will match donations made via the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief page dollar-for-dollar up to a total Spotify contribution of $10 million.”

Let’s make them pay up that 10 mill!!

This hits at the heart of what you all constantly say “it’s all about the music”. OWN IT and fucking dig deep or sell some gear and buy It back later and donate what you can. I gave more than was practical for me right now.

Every single member on this forum should donate or walk the plank.

Here’s also a direct link to the USA based Musicares paypal donate page. The other link is better because it’s matched $ for $ by Spotify and is global but CC only.

Thank God for predictive text. And iOS “text replacement”. I can’t type well. This was very hard for me. But too important.

I’m not a noob or bot btw I was one of the founders of changstar but have been really sick (bedridden) with a chronic illness since 2012-ish. I can’t even listen to music right now. But never stop hoping!!!!!

Thank you. I miss all of you dorks.

Thanks for bringing attention to this. I’ve donated to the group in Canada.

Incidentally, PM Trudeau just announced $500M in funding for Canadians in the arts and entertainment industries who have been affected by all of this, so hopefully that reaches some of these folks and helps.

Does anyone know how good is the US partner with the aid? I want to donate but I would be pissed if most of the money is going to admin fees. I really want it to go to the artist.

Musicares is actually pretty good. The VPs make toward the bottom range of six figures, but hiring the right people who can get donations from their connections is a big part of charities. People who have the ability to get other people to open their checkbooks don't come for free. Fundraising is as big as part of activities as is soliciting donations from individuals.

So much love to all of you. Thanks for the kind words things have been rough to say the least. But this thread is about helping musicians so I won’t say more.

In addition to what Purrin said, musicians are asking for donations to be sent to musicares which is all I need to know honestly. Giving is good it’s really that simple.

    Keep the donations coming! :)
